I'm caffeine free!

I find the Zinger teas just yucky. Roastorama is okay, and if you're willing to spend money supporting the Maharishi, My Organic Market sells a 'Raja's Cup' tea which is okay if you're going caffeine free and what the coffee feel.

Chocolate.... I just haven't found a way to substitute anything for chocolate....

But, Soapy Sam, is there a particular reason why it is in January that you go off coffee?
New year resolution. I bet a coworker I could go longer without coffee than he could without cigarettes. I quit for a month, noticed no side effects whatever and have made it a habit to repeat the exercise every year.

:)
For various reasons, my doctor has commanded me, yes commanded, to cease and desist all consumption of caffeine. This includes:

Coffee
Tea :(
Cola :eusa_wall:
Chocolate :bricks:

I need help. I need to find herbal tea that does not taste like dishwater. I need to find something to perk me up in the afternoon at work. I need to find a man. Oops wrong thread. I need to find comfort food that works like chocolate.

All suggestions welcome!
It is so easy, GET A NEW DOCTOR.

No Chocolate, really........
Your Doctor is not for real.

I guess you could take up smoking, did the doc proscribe nicotine too?:boxedin:

If you prefer not to take up that foul habit, the patch might work....:dig:

Sorry, just funning...

I went caffiene cold-turkey and stayed that way for a couple of years. It's totally survivable. I think having the imperative externally imposed would have made it difficult for me. I abstained by personal choice, not anyone else's dictum...

Best of luck, and sincere wishes for improved health...

Cheers,

Ark

It's true...........

I've read up on Bovril--it sounds disgusting. But then so does kishke.

Oy, I had to give up kishke, but I love it and even used to make it. Sigh.

Anyhoo, I gave up caffeine years ago because I have panic disorder (and stimulants are just what you need with PD!). My mother had to give it up about 18 months ago when she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Mom has it worse than I do because she was a dedicated two pot a day drinker, and I was maybe a 3-4 cups a week imbiber.

Have you ever tried pure chicory? I discovered it last year and now order it from Community Coffee in Louisiana. It brews like coffee, looks like coffee, has a mouth feel like coffee, but doesn't taste a bit like coffee! Still, I like the flavor, especially with some half and half and sugar-free coffee syrups. It's lovely to drink a hot cup before bedtime. Additionally, it's also full of soluble fiber, if you're into that.

For tea, Trader Joe's orange spice rooibus is very good; all others, not so good.

Not even chocolate? The monster!

I had to mostly give up caffeine due to an anxiety disorder but there's no way I'd give up chocolate!

You poor thing. *hug*

There are dozens of herbal tea drinks around these days. Most of them taste like arse whe you first try them but by the end of the box they become acceptable and some even quite nice. But then I remember when I was younger and couldn't stand the taste of tea or coffee. I'm sure you will aquire a taste for something.

It's easy to acquire a taste for something that contains an addictive substance.

really, decaff has caffeine?

YIKES!!

I'm an idiot.

My dad quit coffee long ago, but he drinks about 15 cups of decaf a day. He can't go anywhere without taking a mug or a thermos with him. Of course, he used to do the same thing with regular coffee.

He needs to find out if that's okay. I thought it was okay until the doctor pointed out it still has caffeine.

:(

I think he quit because of WPW, and completely eliminating caffeine wasn't a goal. He's recently had the WPW fixed, but I'm sure he'll stick with the decaf.
