Perhaps the best piece of work EDS has ever been associated with...

This advertisement would be much more accurate if the components being installed on the aircraft were completely untested and assumed to be correct.

... and every so often a passenger should fly out the back because their seat wasn't properly bolted down.

Amusing commercial, but I for one am just commenting here to point out the stark contrast between shadron's and daSkeptic's avatars...

I've got an almost overwhelming urge to slot in a 9/11 joke. But I won't, I'll let you bad boys find your own.

The software business in a nutshell:

  • Select unqualified personnel who have no experience with the tools, techniques, or theory necessary for the job. Expect them to learn on route.
  • Arbitrarily select components to be integrated. Insist it's the developer's job to make them work together.
  • Perform absolutely no research. Commit to a strategy blindly with the assumption it will be successful.
  • Do not verify any work. Trust that everyone is infallible.
  • Conduct development activities on live systems. Laboratory environments are a pain and add no value.
  • Ignore defects. Nobody will notice anyway.
  • Employ management techniques that are fun. Nobody should have to actually work.
  • Ignore lessons from other industries. Software is different.
