ID is bad theology-My visit to the DI

Of course Intelligent Design is theism. If you say something is designed then you must have a designer. Just because they refuse to give their "Designer" any characteristics at all doesn't make it any less a supernatural being. If you try to pin a Christian down on the exact characteristics of their God, they will reach a point where they will stonewall or start changing definitions. ID-ers simply reach that point earlier.

And Intelligent Design definitely isn't science. It is true that some people who believe in Intelligent Design are doing science and are making legitimate and sometimes correct critiques of evolution. But that is simply evolutionary science and has nothing to do with design. Design is what they throw in after they've done the science as an alternate explanation, and it contains absolutely no scientific, testable propositions for showing the existence of a designer. In the end, it comes down to, "I can't think of any other way...". Sorry Behe, but that ain't science.

Exactly. They are starting backwards-- they need the answer to be God... and god is the answer for all the gaps in knowledge... He is defined as some "first cause" and then embellishes all the gaps in knowledge from the big bang forward.

nope.

ID in its current incantation depends on evolution, ands accepts most of evolution as correct, but claims that there are some things in biology which couldn't have evolved, and therefore must be the product of intergalactic hyper bunnies, or whatever. It's a semi formalised system of intellectual surrender.

So are the ID'ers gunna keep watering down their theory until its identical to the current model of evolution? And if so, will they finally shut up?

Eventually it will merge, which will of course prove them right all along, (Can I have a 'Hallelujah' and an 'Amen' people), however this will not be the evil Scientific evolution it will be ID evolution, so no change, just further production and mis-edumacation of faithtards.

as for shutting up. *rude noise*

The whole purpose behind "ID" is to obfuscate understanding and insert "god" into the murkiness.

A Deist, a Freemason, a Christian, and a Muslim can all argue a Designer, but can at the same time differ on the details of who/what that Designer is in detail.

@ Skeptigirl: enjoyed the link to the Ekklesia paper, it's a keeper. :) As I have commented before, if the ICR is going to make any progress that sustains beyond a TV soundbyte for political purposes, it's got some decades of research and testing to do.

So far, they are running a :goat in a horse race.
