I don't understand relativity

I would say that you could grasp the essential concepts of Special Relativity (the easier of the two) with a high school education. Understanding it would probably require college level math in a course such as math, engineering, science

To really understand general relativity (the why not just the what) you either need a Physics degree or to have put in enough time on your own studying it to be the equivalent of one.

I graduated with a good physics degree from a good university and I would be uncomfortable about trying to explain general relativity in a coherent way.

I would agree, not much more than a highschool education is all you need to begin to grasp the concepts of Special Relativity (it also helps to have a brain the size of a watermelon).

i'm finally confident in my ability to explain to a layman the ideas behind the general and special theories of relativity in their most basic form. if i have to go into any serious detail i start sweating and vomiting.

don't worry, once you grasp this quantum mechanics and string theory is a cakewalk.;)
 
Relativity is a piece of cake. It's relatives that I cannot fathom.

It is relatively easy to understand relativity compared with relatives.
