In response to Randi's question, I suggest 
he take a look at the lecture that Dr. David Spiegel gave to NIH just a few months ago in May 2003, available at:

He gives a nice introductory explanation of hypnosis and it's history; as well describing his double-blind studies which prove hypnosis is more that just imagination. He also discusses Rainville's research which was discussed recently by myself and Jeff Corey on a recent thread here about hypnosis.
The simple answer to Randi, is: Yes, Spiegel's studies are double-blind.
