Hi,

According to mohanaturo over at YouTube, homeopaths in India have cured not only cancer but also AIDS.

I was puzzled why I never heard about it since I am sure it would have been a world-wide news event.

Thanks to Google I managed to find several news articles from India regarding a certian Dr. Mathur who claims to have invented these cures.

Example: http://news.webindia123.com/news/Articles/India/20080123/875240.html

I can't seem to find any info on this doctor though. Smells slightly like quackery to me :p

As I am in India in the moment and I have challenged mohanaturo to tell me which hospitals here have cured these diseases successfully. I'd love to do a small documentary on the search for these patients, could be entertaining.

From that story:
Dr Mathur received the 'International Scientist' award from Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in 2000. He has also been awarded the 'Novel Prize' by the National Council of Homeopathy, London for his outstanding contribution in the field of homeopathy.

While Sheila Dikshit does seem to have been Chief Minister of Delhi since 1998, it appears from this that the "International Scientist Award" is in fact awarded by the World Homoeopathic Development Organisation (president: Dr A M Mathur, according to the story linked in the O/P):
HOMOEOPATH BAGS AWARD FOR CANCER CURE MEDICINE

(The Hindu - 17-09-2000)

The International Scientist Award of the world Homoeopathic Development Organisation has been given to Dr. A.M Mathur

I can't find any information about the "National council of Homeopathy, London" or its "Novel [sic] Prize".

Quite apart from anything else, Mathur's treatments don't appear to be individualised to the patient. This means two things:

a) there should be no objection to the use of randomised double-blind placebo-controlled trials as a test of his treatments; and
b) this would enable homoeopaths to deny that this is homoeopathy if the trials showed it didn't work.

Hahaha, I am dying here! That's incredibly funny! I do have some political contacts here in Delhi, I might get some more information :D

I doubt he would subject himself these kinds of tests. I'll see if I can find this Dr and see if he wants to play...
