It's even worse than that. Moneymaker probably spends much more time in the field (with cameras) than many of the Bigfooters that hate him. That puts him in a better position of recording (or confirming) a Bigfoot than them. MM could document a real Bigfoot on any one of his pay-per-view expeditions. That makes him a good candidate for being the next Patterson, right? It makes no matter that he is a con man any more than it did for RP. Being in the right place at the right time is the key, I would guess. I think that is what the Bigfooters would say. Patterson is a hero to many of them.
To me, in certain basic ways, Patterson and Moneymaker seem like the same persona. I can easily imagine that if Roger Patterson was alive today, he'd be running a for-profit Bigfoot search enterprise that is a lot like what MM is doing now. Since RP was a slick con man before and after the PGF, I would expect him to remain that way when running his own Bigfoot business. If Roger was still alive, we might not even know about MM at all if he was drowned-out with the celebrity status and marketing savvy of Roger. Yeah, Moneymaker does still sells seats for his own sporting event. But if Roger were alive, can you imagine the willingness of Bigfooters to pay him for a Bigfoot expedition? Hunt Bigfoot with the cowboy that filmed the real thing. I would pay for that with no hesitation. Yes, if RP was alive now and selling mountain forest tours I would go on one.
