My flash player works fine when it is normal size, however when I go to full screen the picture lags and stutters, the sound is fine though. It only started doing this in the last couple of weeks.

I've tried installing an older version but it won't let me do it, I still end up with the current one. I even tried completely uninstalling flash and when I clicked on a page with a video the new player was still installed.

I've also tried turning hardware acceleration on and off but it made no difference.

If anyone could help it would be much appreciated as I watch most of my TV shows on the internet and I can only use small screen at the moment!

I can't help because I know next to nothing. But I might give you a hint and then let you consult my betters. In the past month, did you get an update to version 11.3? If so, it had a flaw in it. They did send out some error messages but nothing they suggested worked for me. Finally I had a Fantastechs man come a week ago and uninstall, then reinstall it. Since then it has been fine.

Please! Don't rely on what I said to do anything. I'm only passing on my experience in case it gives you any ideas.

Some things to do/consider:

  • Try a different browser. I've found Firefox to be buggy with the latest versions of Shockwave. Chrome less so.
  • Try turning off plugins/extensions. Turn them off one at a time to see if you can find one that is causing the problem. In fact, you can play flash video without Shockwave and thats the one I'd try first. Turn off shockwave, go to youtube and play a random video and see if the problem persists.
  • Check for other running processes. You may have something running in the background that is interfering with video playback. The symptoms you describe happen to me whenever I try to adjust the volume while in full screen mode. As long as the on-screen volume indicator is there, the video is choppy. When the on-screen volume indicator fades away, the video resumes normal operation. Check Task Manager to see whats running.

Fixed it. Had to go to chrome://plugins and disable some of the flash plugins.

Thanks for the tip madurobob!

I can now watch Futurama to my hearts content :)
