Check out the investigation reports at the link below.

Also, check out this update from the link above. It's pretty hilarious. It's about a mysterious occurrence involving emails at a juno account that may be due to haunted activity. lol

7:38 PM 2/23/04

After beinggone for the weekend, I returned home this morning to find that a 5gallon bucket full of flower bulbs (contained in a mesh bag)on my backporch had fallen completely over, for no apparent reason.

Thisafternoon around 4:00 my book bag, full of books, which was leaningagainst the couch, securely, fell over onto the floor, for no apparentreason.

On Friday, Feb 20th, before leaving for the weekend,my Juno account stopped receiving emails. I had not received any emails(even one that I sent to myself from another email account) for nearlytwo days. I contacted Juno, and after spending an entire afternoontroubleshooting, no reason could be found.

Today, Mon., Feb23rd, I opened my Juno email account, and new emails from today hadarrived in my box. Some, such as the one I sent to myself on Fri. Feb20th.

Later today, I was checking my Juno email account, and ALL(243) emails that I had saved, had completely disappeared. Again, seeking help from Juno, the mail could not be located.
After thisoccurrance, Although I was able to get online, I was not able toconnect with ANY webserver(thru either Juno or Internet Explorer.)

Tonight, after smudging the computer. I turned it on, and all of my missing Junemail had returned, and I was able to connect to websites again.

Skeptics, how would you explain these stories?

Late in the evening, just prior to going to bed, Karen saw in the mirror over the dresser, a small red light. Upon walking towards the mirror, she saw ANOTHER light along with the other(like a small laser light), reflecting(or in the mirror itself) from some unknown source. Standing in front of the dresser, she passed her arm back and forth over the candalabra, noticing an orange glow(like an aura) that seemed to be passing through her fingers(bear in mind, NONE of the candles on the dresser were lit, nor were any of the lights in the bedroom, with the exception of a light in the distant corner of the room--not bright enough to account for what was happening). Moving her arm over the first one, there was a glow that was connected somehow between her two arms that continued until she moved them away. (When she put her hand back in the same spot, the same thing would occur again).

1:38 PM 2/29/04

Yesterday, all day, I noticed a smell of bad body odor throughout the house. We each took a shower (just in case!), but the smell continued throughout the house, well into the evening. I do not notice it here today.

I have learned that my downstairs neighbor is moving out. He has been packing and moving the past few days. I asked him if he ever noticed any 'strange' things apout his apartment. He said that on several occasions upon returning home after leaving the house for a day or so, lights would be turned on when he returned. He wasl well intentioned each time he left to make sure that all of the lights were off when he left the house. One particular time he made a specific note that the lights were ALL OFF, and when he returned in the evening, the bathroom light had been turned on.

He also noticed a very cold chill in the room one evening while
holding a 'private' seance to contact his deceased father. The pendulum he was using would not give a 'yes' or 'no' reply to his questions, but merely spun around in circles.

Often times he felt the 'presence' of someone else in the house with him.

The gas flame on the hot water heater that is located on the enclosed service porch in his apartment is always blowing out. A special wall was built several months ago surrounding the water heater so no wind or drafts could reach it to blow the flame out. This did not solve the problem. The flame continues to "blow out"for no apparent reason. I am also aware of this problem because my hot water comes from the same water heater.

You're not serious, are you?

Cats. Bulbs shifting inside the bag.

Books shifting inside the book bag. People sitting in the couch shifting the bag slightly.

I've worked professionally with computers, big, small, midrange, for almost 20 years, and I can tell you that glitches like these happen all the time. However, when investigated, it always turns out to be a perfectly rational explanation: Human error, server hiccups, hardware malfunction. Always. I have seen much more weird stuff happen to computers, but never ever for anything else than rational reasons.

If you expect Juno to tell you the inner secrets of how their systems (mal)function, you are in for a big surprise. It is far better for business to tell the customers a white lie ("we can't locate the problem on our side" is a classic), than to let them know they are dealing with incompetents.

You are not serious, are you? Do you really think these events are evidence of - or even hinting at - paranormal phenomena?

I'm thinking Winston's just getting a rise out of seeing posters here waste their time in responding to him.

I would probally turn the lights down, sit everyone down, open a window to get a slight draft and whisper when I tell it. I have found that is the best way with ghost stories.

However be careful it only really works with children and the very gullible. Adults tend to think you are a bit wierd if you beilive in ghosts, faries and the like.

Exactly.

The next step is when Winston will regale us all with stories of how, at summer camp, his friends told him that there were really really ghosts about in Virginia City and that they stalked the campers at night! And they told him that there was this one guy who was from Virginia City Nevada, and he was walking along a dark road when he saw this guy playing with a camper's HEAD that he had ripped off, like it was some sort of basketball? Wow! Is that spooky and true or WHAT! And Winston believes this because his friends would NEVER tell him lies and anyway, there are TONS of anecdotes like these so something MUST be true, right? RIGHT?

Winston, "lol" in your case stands for "Look out! LOONEYTUNES!"

Skeptics, how would you explain these stories?
Lies, Schizophrenia, hallucinations, drug 'flashbacks', Munchhausen (sp?) syndrome, dodgy electrical wiring. draughts, rodents, gas leaks
any or all of the above
Why should you expect someone else to comment on a couple of anecdotes? have you spent time investigating these particular occurences? if so please present some evidence that these are anything more than a series of prosaic events.

"while holding a 'private' seance to contact his deceased father. The pendulum he was using would not give a 'yes' or 'no' reply to his questions, but merely spun around in circles."

Here's one explanation. The people in question are woo woo's who cannot think a problem through to it's (natural) source, but immediately assume any unexplained occurence is due to 'ghosts'

W: No I don't believe everything people tell me. Do you? I don't know what those stories are about, but many of them are by honest genuine people. They are just something to CONSIDER. I'm not making any claims here.

W: You guys are so closed mined. Why can't one of your POSSIBLE explanations be that the ghosts are real? Sheesh. Talk about a priori dismissals.

Why should we CONSIDER these stories? For what purpose?

W: Because they MAY be true, and therefore change your view of reality, if you have an open non-judgemental mind that is.

How do we determine if they ARE true, Winston?

You got to wonder about a person who starts all these threads with titles that refer to himself in the third person. Isn't that one of the things you look for in an unstable person? Of course, none of us 'wonder' any more about Winston's stability. Compared to him, nitroglycerine is inert.

Occams Razor. If you can vouch for the absolute honesty, integrity and common sense of the posters I'd ................ well, let me re-phrase that.. ..If a stable, trustworthy person could vouchsafe the honesty, integrity and common sense of the writers, I'd be more inclined to give it some passing thought.

It cuts both ways Mr. Wu, I have not called you a name in this thread, but there you are just assuming that I am close minded. I have had experiences much stranger and wierder than that.

One of the possible explanations could be that ghosts are real but that is an assumption that you are making!

You have no proof of anything other than the wonderful world of the human mind, and yet you want us to just agree that they might be ghosts.

I lived in a house that hated tea pots, it broke every one that we had, at least three if not four. Should I assume that there was a poltergeist? Or that there may have been other factors like a vibrating refrigerator involved?

I lived in another house where there would be something that sounded like footsteps on the front steps, just like someone walking up them. Should I assume that there was a ghost? It could have been many other things as well.

The human mind is a great place to live, but there is no reason to assume that there are disembodied spirits that are percieved as ghosts. There would have to be either positive evidence that could not be obtained except through the disemodied spirit or you have to eliminate the other possibilities.

I would think it was great if there were ghosts, but I haven't sen any proof of the positive nature and there is always another explanation.

Emails: Your computer isn't working.

Tada!

Quite often I have a red light shining into my room. It's from the stoplight a block away.

At our farm we often see a red light or a green light shining through the trees far away. Is this some spectre carrying a lamp? Is it a ghost light? Or is it - gasp - the signal on the train tracks a few blocks away?

When I was at camp they told us about "Seaweed Harry" who would try to kill the girls. That night, we heard someone walking across the roof. It scared us half to death. It couldn't have been the counselors throwing rocks onto the roof, could it? It must have been Seaweed Harry!
