I don't understand your point. Earthquakes happen so animals aren't cute and trees aren't beautiful and we shouldn't find happiness and wonder in nature?
 
Can I ask what is the point of your post? I mean, seriously. What purpose does you injecting negativity into this thread serve? If you don't want to celebrate Earth Day, that's fine, but what is your motivation for injecting your negative opinions on someone else's joy?

Yeesh, you try and do a little lighthearted cute post, and you still have people so miserable they have to find something wrong with it.

You must be a hoot at dinner parties.

Why not? The Earth is also destructive, it killed 300 000 people in january alone, and is costing billions to airline companies as we speak.

Why ignore it? Why always concentrate on the good things?

I find the idea of commemorative days a bit dumb to be honest. I don't need a day to remember that women's rights should be upheld, or that the Earth is a special place.

Who's ignoring what now? Protecting the environment stops bad things and protects good things. (At least that is the idea.)

I'm sorry I apparently really screwed up. Have I violated some forum rules I didn't know about?

I realize that JREF is a discussion board, but I had also seen some other threads in the past where people just posted pictures and others seemed to enjoy them. I have also seen threads in the past that were on non serious non debating subjects, and I never saw negative responses to them, so I had not realized that posting pictures and posting non debating threads was an inappropriate thing to do.

But I still don't understand why several posters seem so actually upset by my thread. I mean, have I really impacted your lives so much by posting a thread that it takes ten seconds to click on and look at? I have seen plenty of threads that I find silly or do not interest me. And so what I just didn't comment and moved on. I realize not everyone cares about Earth day or pretty pictures and may think it's silly, but what harm or offense has my post caused?

If my post was inappropriate, then by all means let me know if I misinterpreted JREFs rules. But I feel the hostility here is simply unwarrented.

But I kind of can't believe people are actually insulting me and name calling just becasue I made a thread that doesn't happen to interest them.

Can I ask, what is it that makes you so upset? Again, if I violated rules in some way, by all means inform me. But I find the response I've gotten to this thread to be very hostile and inappropriate.

I mean seriously, how do you even get through life when you're so easily offended that pictures of elephants piss you off?

Yes and no. probably just a misplaced thread. If you just wanted to say lets share pretty pictures to celebrate Earth Day, you probably should have posted in Community.

By posting in SICE, the assumption was that you wished to discuss Earth Day, which brought out folks who think the concept is silly.

For the record, I agree that Earth Day is silly, but still enjoyed your pretty pictures.
