I also find it fascinating. The fact that the Aztecs and other South American cultures had absolutely no knowledge of Christianity I'm surprised that they seem to jump so heavily on this particular bandwagon. It's not just Christians either, it does seem that there are a large proportion of people who do seem to have some sort of death wish fetish with regard to the end of the world. Even when the supposed dates are surpassed it doesn't stop then from latching onto the next date. It's truly bizarre. My conclusion is that a large proportion of human beings are not too able to look at their world with much rationalisation, almost as if it's just a bit too much for them and they'd rather just imagine something else.What I find interesting is the meshing of Christianity with astrology and the Aztec-predicted alignment in the "true believer's" words there...
Could it be that in allowing these impurities in his/her version of Christianity that (s)he is committing blasphemy and possibly consigning him/herself to hell?
