Greta Thunberg - brave campaigner or deeply disturbed?

And I know you are saying “it’s her fan club”. I don’t believe this. I believe you dislike her because she won’t behave the way you would prefer a young female to behave. you know, stay in class and leave the topic to adults.

I think that's entirely your projection. theprestige is one of several who said that the fun is in mocking her disciples' thinskinnedness and that gang includes me. This bitching and accusing is far from interesting by now, though, so you could as well stop it. It appears more like teenage behaviour than anything Greta presented to the world.

Actually, it's this attitude right here. All of my ridicule of things Thunbergian is directed at skewering this aggressively offended and offensive attitude among those who endorse her.

In Germany Yahtzee is called Kniffel and I played it with my grand parents as well. Checked wikipedia and Yatzy seems to be a Scandinavian variant with slightly different rules.

Apparently they are all derived from a game called Yacht, so maybe Greta was just fooling around there making some inside joke.

Yeah

Saw the same thing

Quite a cool game actually.

Whatever else you say about Greta Thunberg, she is not wrong. Here is her latest tweet.

Day 16. In the middle of the ocean I’m struck by the news that the EU Parliament has declared a climate emergency.
We can’t solve a crisis without treating it as one. Let’s hope they now take drastic sufficient action.Join the #climatestrike to put pressure on them!

Just what is this drastic action Thunberg is alluding to ?

So far all she's good for is wagging her finger, whining and telling people to go vote. Certainly she can't mean voting is a drastic action.

I've got a suggestion since mayhem is all over the media, I demand that every single climate scientist start living like we're in the climate emergency they keep telling us about. No more conferences, no more flights, out of those big houses, electric vehicles but only if they can be charged using renewable energy, no more meat, ever.

U.N. says ‘quick wins’ are needed to keep climate goals within reach

Climate emergency: world 'may have crossed tipping points’

Oh yea. It's black friday global climate strike tomorrow.

All Thunbergites have booked the day off work to attend I presume.

Maybe, just maybe the protesters are going to target places like Wal Mart and Best Buy, or malls in general. That sounds like a very Extinction Rebellion thing to do.

ETA: Damn, it's already happening. It's called Block Friday.

No, I haven't because I'm a contractor and can't afford to take time off work for which I will not get paid. Also, I'm demophobic and suffer from social anxiety. Maybe there's more to us than your derogatory stereotype.

"We are at the beginning of mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money" G. Thunberg.

You don't actually need to go to the protests, just go on strike for the day and bring capitalist culture to it's knees.

Still trying to get a handle on this whole drastic action thing. Maybe she means some of that stochastic terrorism that I've been reading about. David Attenborough seems to have inspired a little, so why not Thunberg.

Or

Maybe she means something like wearing the same clothes twice. Just look, poor Jane Fonda has vowed to never shop again and actually wore, wait for it....the same clothes twice.

The sacrifice is, well, drastic. :eye-poppi

It has been proven ad-nauseam on this very thread you can't disagree with the minutest detail without being labelled a climate change denier.

And they wonder why people take the ****

Why would anyone want to waste their time writing posts to criticize minute details? Not much of a social life I guess. If a person is going to criticize things they disagree with, at least choose something that matters.

Thanks for the update.

It's her fanclub, actually. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time processing this repeated statement.

I've pointed out silly fanclub behavior repeatedly in this thread. I made it more explicit as her fanclub here continues to pretend they're not seeing it. I'll add your stance on this to the list of problems with Greta's fanclub. Along with Orphia's ongoing confusion on this point.

:D I see what you did there.

:D I used to love Clarkson and Top Gear. He's such a troll. :)

Perhaps a bit like how some people troll democrats or republicans.

As a skeptic, I appreciate the art form.

Because they want to?

It is called a free world

I have been called a climate change denier a few times times on this thread when I am not and you expect me to just take it?

Well suck it up. I won't.

Because not thinking Greta is the greatest thing since sliced bread does not make someone a climate change denier.

You just inspired me to say something to Vandana Shiva. She's a famous environmentalist and has associated with Thunberg. I've seen Shiva in the past demonise GMOs.

I went to Shiva's Twitter feed, and yes, she'd also done that today, so I wrote a calm message about the need for high-yield GMO seed research and development, and a link to my "bible".

Shiva should see it, because she doesn't seem to have many people replying. Interesting, that.

(I could go on another rant with statistics about overprivileged white/americans pissing on the internet and eating their own. I'll spare you all. :D )

I do not consider that to be a minute detail. You are perfectly entitled to defend yourself against such accusations.

And for the record, I do not think you are a climate change denier.

I think I have too. I don't know, I can't remember but I wouldn't doubt it. I can't be arsed to go look.

Anybody who's been awake for the past 30 years knows that climate change is irreversible but....sometimes you just have to hold onto that hope no matter how faint and if supporting someone like Thunberg can help with a guilty conscience then attacking Thunberg can be seen as an attempt to extinguish that hope.

Thunberg just called for "drastic sufficient action". nobody knows what that is, nobody cares what that is or what that might entail but to question it is to put yourself in the position of a trump supporting right wing climate change denying.....sinner.
