Hi.

I've done a search for this forum on detoxing and detox scams and found some nice info about it in general but I'm interested in a specific detox diet and and specific symptom and it's real cause.

It's the grape detox, where for two weeks all you eat is grapes and drink water (I think it might be based on the story of Daniel in the bible). Does anybody have any debunking sites/articles specifically concerning that?

Secondly the symptom of people's skin breaking out into pimples and other blemishes after/during a detox. I assume that's not really all the toxins getting out, so what is it then?

An nice quote I found about detoxing though:

Professor Sir Colin Berry said:
“One of the most poisonous chemicals that many people will encounter this time of year is alcohol. However, even if you drink an almost lethal dose of alcohol (which I don’t recommend) your liver will clear it in 36 hours without any assistance from detox tablets. ..."

I have some grape vines and every year I have an over-abundance of them right at the same time. I make some jam, but I eat a lot of them too.

The things that a sudden increase in consumption of a grape like Fredonia and Concord can do to a digestive tract probably contribute to the line of thought, 'it's getting bad things out'.

Grapes are great, over consumption, not so much.

Thing is, what exactley are the "Toxes" that this or any other "Detox" regimine are "De"ing???

I'd have thought a grape diet would be one very high fruit sugar diet.

I'm thinking they are a glucose-glucose diglyceride. Lots of glucose, raisins aree good for diabetics in hypoglycemia.
