I must say that I like Google cleaning up their searches to weed out the nutjobs. I can now type in JFK Assassination and the first page links to websites that are fact-based. Now I have to search for the loonies.

Some strong mental gymnastics in this thread. They've brainwashed you harder than I thought. You don't get any better evidence than this from whistleblowers, where you have them admit to it on camera and have leaked documents. It's even easily confirmable too, just by making simple google searches and seeing how the results are strongly skewed compared to Bing, Duckduckgo and Yandex. "But I haven't heard it on TV, it can't be true!" Have fun with your spyware, I'm out.

And yet those other search engines exist, so in the end who cares?

Any normal person with internet access has watched Google evolve from a search engine designed to destroy Netscape Navigator to a web browser designed to destroy MS Internet Explorer. Both were welcome endeavors at the time since Microsoft was seen as "Too Big" and "Evil". Along the way Google was very open about their plans to monetize their search engine and just about everything else they do...and the they succeeded.

Then they realized they, and other online services had a problem. The rise of bots allowed agents and actors of ill intent to game their algorithms to promote/advance their schemes. Since Google is first a BUSINESS they understood their platform was enabling a lot of bad ideas which exposed them legally to all kinds of expensive lawsuits. So their change is proactive, and sometimes it's arbitrary and unfair, but welcome to the internet - that's how things roll here.

Just pick an older thread on the CT or 911 CT board and you'll find plenty of folks complaining about "Old Google" being flooded with pro-CT links, and having to wade four or five pages deep before finding something written by a credible source.

Here's an idea: Take a hint.

Welcome to the forum! I call them "pseudo-skeptics". Because, well, they're not really skeptics. Confirmation bias is a bitch, when your ego requires you to believe pre-existing narratives.

On the other hand, some of them make better arguments than others. At worst, you can learn which of their arguments are dishonest or illogical, and how better to make an honest, effective argument yourself for people who are actually prepared to learn.

It's nice to have a $1.6 trillion dollar company that opposes free speech at your back, helping you to figure out exactly what the "facts" are, isn't it! Most of us can't be bothered to do things like read, think critically, and hit the PGDN button. It's understandable.
