Golf pro killed and 2 others found dead at Georgia golf course

Police are looking for the person who shot and killed pro golfer Gene Siller at a country club north of Atlanta on Saturday.

Cobb County police responded to a report of a person shot around 2:20 p.m. and found Siller on the green of the 10th hole of the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, according to a news release from the police department.

Siller, who was a club employee, was found unresponsive with an "apparent gunshot wound to the head" and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The suspect had driven to the green in a white Ram 3500 pickup truck and shot 41-year-old Siller when he went to see what was going on, a member of the club told CNN affiliate WXIA. The suspect then fled, WXIA reported.

Police discovered the truck still on the green and found the bodies of two men in the bed of the truck, the release said. Both victims also suffered apparent gunshot wounds, according to police.

That is completely freaking bizarre! WTF??? :jaw-dropp

I'm going to go with a lethal car-jacking, hence the bodies in the back, followed by joy-riding on the golf course, then the perp shot the guy that came to see what was happening to avoid being caught.

That doesn't make sense. If it was a carjacking in the conventional sense, the bodies shouldn't be in the bed of the truck. If perp killed them in the cab after carjacking them, they should either be in the cab, or on the side of a road somewhere perp dumped them before driving off. If during the carjacking perp made them get out of the cab, and they did, and perp then decided to shoot them anyway, they should still be in the road where they fell. Either way, if he was just trying to steal the vehicle, it doesn't make sense he'd want to put the people he killed in the back of it and take them with him when he drove off.

Indeed, there really aren't many believable scenarios in general as to why a murderer would put his victims in the back of a pickup truck and then drive around with them in broad daylight.

The 10th green at Pine Tree is adjacent to a road, but it's a very small dead-end road deep inside a maze of small residential streets surrounding the golf course; it doesn't seem like the kind of place a person would randomly drive into expecting it to be a through street.

There's just so much about this that doesn't make sense. I get the feeling of a person who is absolutely off their rocker and behaving erratically.

The owner of the truck, Paul Pierson, is one of the men found dead in the truck well.

A golf pro at a suburban Atlanta country club was shot and killed on Saturday by a man who drove onto the golf course in a pickup truck bearing the bodies of two other men in the bed of the vehicle, the police said.

The golf pro was identified by several golf organizations as Gene Siller, who was in his 40s. One of the victims found dead in the truck’s bed was identified as Paul Pierson, who was the registered owner of the white RAM 3500 pickup truck, the Cobb County Police Department said in a statement on Sunday. The third victim has not been identified as of Sunday evening.

Both men found in the pickup truck’s bed had died of gunshot wounds, the police said.
NY POST

Suspect is Hispanic about 6'1" and 170lbs.

Looks like he stole the truck from the owner and killed him.

It's a mass shooting.

Hard to figure it all out. Maybe he was looking to dispose of the bodies at the golf course and was interrupted. It's certainly weird given what we know so far.

Daily Mail says the golfer guy had an argument with someone fishing on the course several days ago. Maybe unrelated.

DM says that the fishing guy became so agitated that the golfer guy had to call the police.

It's the Daily Fail though. Seems unlikely that someone that had a grudge against him would shoot two random people, steal their truck, and start doing burnouts on the course in the hope that the right person would show up to investigate. Even assuming that the fisherman knew where he worked, it's not like it's a game of Hitman where you can keep disposing of bodies in a wardrobe until the right victim responds to your coin toss. It's far more likely that he was killed because he went to investigate and this would have been the same regardless of who had done so.

This started out sounding like an episode of Columbo (someone shot the golf pro? Really?) but then it turned properly weird.

In the climactic final scene in the drawing room I'm definitely going to ask the inspector to tell us why the perpetrator, who arrived in a truck, seems to have made their getaway on foot.
