Giant Worm Attacks Microsoft!

Okay anyways just a quick post before work (I think this is a "current event"). Most of us have heard about a nasty "worm" going around infecting peoples computers in preparation for an attack on Microsoft's website. Not that the idea bothers me all that much ;) but...

I was able to catch this worm before it activated on my PC using ZoneAlarm (a cheap firewall program). These types of firewalls are not very effective, however it did catch the file "MSBLAST.EXE" when it tried to activate itself. This worm is supposedly set to attack on August 16th. The file was hiding in my WinNT folder somewhere.

You can download ZoneAlarm here:
ZoneAlarm Download

Maybe this has already been discussed here, I've been away from this site a bit lately. No I don't work for Zone Labs! I actually recommend using a better firewall system than that, but it worked in this case.

Maybe this will help someone. Peace.

There's also a patch to download from Microsoft for it. (I waited too long to do it....:( )

More info here. See how many other forum members copped it. Let's also head the Microsoft vs Apple arguments RIGHT HERE by looking at this thread first.

:wink8:

I use both systems, they both have their uses. There is a virtual PC for Macs that will run Windows programs. I'm thinking of going back to use a Mac for my main development machine, just because our Windows network has been hit like 15 times by viruses etc. in the last year and our Macintosh OSX network has been hit a total of zero times. I am constantly getting locked out of the Windows network because someone has been trying to hack my account. In fact the only virus I remember getting on a Mac ever was a resource fork virus a few years ago that had Ahnold pop up every once in a while and say "I'm Baaak or I'll be back or some such thing". Cute and harmless, but annoying nevertheless...

Even worms have taste, and more computing power then an apple.

Eden was perfect, then Adam used the first apple and the world when to hell after that!

PCs forever !!:D

Or until something new comes along.

Yeah, we as well were to late. And sadly, now our poor computer suffers. Ah well.
