There are famous ghosts, up northwards in England, in the cellar of a pub (hmm...), of the Roman 4th Legion (I heard it as the 4th, is there an expert to hand?), which reportedly materialise from the knees up, as the original roman road is below the level of the cellar floor.
You're referring to the Treasurer's House in York. Great story; I'd like a little more hard evidence though.

Beautiful city BTW; well worth a visit whether you're there for the woo (ghost tours are everywhere) or not.
