I have no idea if this belongs in Politics, Social Issues, Technology, or humor.

The Trump team has launched a social media app, named GETTR. Its mission statement?

The platform, called GETTR, advertised its mission statement as “fighting cancel culture, promoting common sense, defending free speech, challenging social media monopolies, and creating a true marketplace of ideas.

From the rumors it's pretty much just twitter v2.0, but kind of looks like an old geocities site, and twitter had a baby. I won't be joining, but I can't figure out what the acronym is supposed to be. Miller is the one running it so I'm sure it's something terrible.

According to the linked article: The name GETTR was inspired by the words “Getting Together.”
 
Don't we already have Frank's peach already filling this vital need of a far right media platform?

I think 4, dance videos would be the most appreciated. It can be the most random of the lot.

News stories of the J6 insurrection arrests might delight them as well.

There's no shortage of these things. They all have the same members and all fall apart for the same reasons.

Well, it looks like the domain, and probably the hosting, is done through godaddy. The DNS services are being done through cloudflare, and the mx records show google is handling the email.

If they don't moderate their content it'll just lead to those companies dropping the platform. As previously mentioned, it's happened before and it can easily happen here.

Gab already exists as a hub for overt white nationalists and fascists. For all the crowing about being anti-censorship, GETTR will probably have to take a pretty stern hand to hold back the most degenerate extreme right wingers unless it wants to just become another barely functional, rarely visited back alley of the internet.
