Gable Tostee

I don't know how much we will hear from the hangemhighers.
They regard me as a champion of deviants, killers and misfits.

No.

I post as I see it and will continue to do so.
It was what it was. People have different opinions.

They probably meant well

If it took the jury that long posters on the forum with half the info will always look at it from different perspectives and come to different conclusions

Hmmm, had kinda thought he would be convicted of manslaughter, but it is a hard one.

Yeah manslaughter was the verdict I predicted too.

Reckon his lawyer was right, and the recording saved him in the end.

I actually thought it was going to convict him, not so as it turns out.

As I understand there was a possibility of a mistrial due to a juror posting on social media (4 or 5 times, from what I saw).

It didn't sound good for him, but at the same time it proved that he didn't push her off the balcony, and at least backed up his story that Wright had been acting erratically and unpredictably during the evening.

Verdicts done.

Instagram stuff is irrelevant now I think.

Do you have a link to that? I've been looking through the tabloids, but can't find that kind of detail.

Was a now deleted news break on the courier.

Posted about it earlier

Application was apparently put in to disband the jury.

Hence lunch break and delay

All of the information came through Twitter.

I looked through her Instagram page; she posted on each day that she was going to the Supreme Court.

The jury reached a verdict before lunch but was adjourned for lengthy legal argument as Justice John Byrne and the prosecution and defence discussed a series of Instagram posts made by one of the jurors throughout the trial.

After thanking and discharging the jury, Justice Byrne said the incident was a "particularly disappointing" feature of the trial.

He warned the juror to expect many comments from members of the public that she "may not welcome".

Predictably there were a number of people on there giving her a serve. As I understand her page has since been set to private.

One the NZ stations covered the case really well, went into a decent amount of detail during the week. I can't remember which one unfortunately.
Think it was probably newshub.

Problem with these on the spot things is people start letting things being released as a scoop without fact checking.

I could be accused of being no different to be fair. I went with it in earlier posts.

Probably should have shut up and ignored media scoops till the verdict

I thought I read it was the defence that applied to have the jury disbanded? The judge must have been withholding the jury's decision - since it was in their client's favour it would be stupid to take a chance on a different jury

Getting too complicated for my small brain.

Just figured it was probably not guilty.

Lucky dude though.

May tape my entire life

A bit more info about the instagram twat here.

The posts to her more than 2000 followers over several days specifically identified her as a juror on Mr Tostee's murder trial and her thoughts about being part of the case.

"I snagged a nasty one, so it's a bit full on," she said in one post.

"I took it home with me yesterday and woke quite miserable this morning. Will make sure I leave it behind this afternoon," she said in another.

The juror, who cannot be identified, did not discuss the evidence in the trial or the jury's deliberations.

Anyone else get the feeling that the judge just wanted this cleared?

Defence barrister Saul Holt QC argued for a mistrial but Justice John Byrne dismissed the application.

Well isn't that interesting? Saul Holt misread the tea leaves, almost snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
With hindsight of course the acquittal is obvious, but amazing the defence counsel could not pick it.
Of course he fell hook line and sinker for prosecutorial fraud in Lundy 2002 as filing clerk. What a moron.
Another NZ export raising the IQ both sides of the Tasman.

Yup. His instructions to the jury seemed to me to be almost leading them by the hand which way to decide....I reckon he was probably frustrated at the idiotic questions they were asking and how long it was taking them.

I think he's from Palmy, hotbed of intelligence that it is.
