"Freedom caucus"?

How does Louie Gohmert not manage to be a member of that? Too liberal for him?

Every time I see LG, I think Homer Simpson.

I turns out he (Louie, not Homer or Dan) is a member of the rival "Liberty Caucus". There is, of course, considerable overlap between the two.

more on Gohmert

I didn't know much about Representative Gohmert so I did a little reading.

For those as ignorant as I, Gohmert wanted the speaker job as recently as January of this year but lost a challenge to Boehner.

It also turns out that he was very upset about Jade Helm. The thing that bothered him the most is that the maps the soldiers and sailors were using labeled Texas as hostile territory. He admitted that his experience in the army led him to understand that training needed to include simulated maneuvers in friendly and hostile territory, but he was insistent that the government should not have written the word hostile on a map of Texas.

"When my own commander-in-chief through his subordinates is just fine with, for games purposes, declaring an enemy of two or more of your states, I got a real problem with that, that is one of the most insensitive, outrageous things that a military commader could do."

I love how he blames President Obama for deciding that Texas should be labeled hostile.

Wikipedia says that the HouseLiberty Caucus has official colors: black, white, and yellow.

Say what you want about the GOP, but they are highly effective at coming up with simple, feel-good slogans that people can rally around.

They don't wrap themselves in the flag - in the minds of a certain segment of American voters, they are the flag. And anyone who dares question that article of faith is an evil dirty Communist who hates America.

Okay.

There's a block of 36 Tea-Bagging Republicans who identify with the Freedom Caucus.
According to its mission statement, “The House Freedom Caucus gives a voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them. We support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the rule of law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans.” The caucus is sympathetic to the Tea Party movement. (From the wiki page)

The caucus has also been characterized as "conservative with a libertarian emphasis" (From the wiki page)

...and...

Supposedly, these two blocks don't like each other. [citation needed]

...and...

This leaves 175 left in the middle. (supposedly)

And the Dems have 188 members in the house.

You have made an error in your calculations. There are folks like Ted Poe (TX), Ron DeSantis (FL), and Curt Clawson (FL) who are members of both caucuses.

I am too lazy to count them all.

ETA
Gosar
Stanford,
Griffith,
Salmon,
Brat,
Bridenstine,
And some more.
As I said, I am too lazy to look up all the duplicates

Ok, here are some more:
Meadows,
Mulvaney,
Jeff Duncan

I just assumed (sorry) membership wasn't binary. You were with the Freedom Caucus or the Liberty Caucus.

I was basing my claim of "one or the other" on Trebuchet's comment. I assumed, since they were rivals (according to Treb) one was with this group or that group.

My bad and I guess time will tell.

You missed the second sentence of my post.
