Perhaps a silent auction might fetch a better price since quantities are limited (and this is essentially a fund raising event)?
I think that would be nice, but it is easy for me to say that, since I won't be involved in organizing it. If someone who *is* going could take charge of that, though... I have only been to a couple of silent auctions, but it seems that it might be a fairly simple task. I don't recall how many copies there are, but it should be easy enough to take the top N bidders over cover price. Yes, anyone can (and should) order online, but as you say, this is fund raising.
But like I said, it is easy for me to say that; TAMs can be chaotic, and adding any additional chaos may not be desired, even if it raises money.
Thanks very much to the person who donated them. I don't think they'll last long!
Yes, thanks very much to Kiless! (ok, and thanks, Dr. A, for writing such a desirable book!)
I don't think Dr. Adequate will be at TAM5, but I think the books being donated are autographed. Don't hold me to that, rather check for yourself at TAM.
I may also be wrong, but I do not think they will be autographed. Time constraints, making sure they got to Oz in time to be brought to TAM, prohibited a stop for autographing. There was some talk of an official stamp or seal, but I do not know if anything came of it. If an autograph is part of the appeal, perhaps the book could be used to collect the autographs of Mr. Randi and/or some other speakers.
