I've found a use for homeopathy! You know the dilutions that homeopaths witter on endlessly about - the way that 30C is more effective than 12X even though it's got even less chance of being near a molecule of the remedy.

Homeopathy can be used by gamblers to illustrate how enormous odds can get. We currently use the "x to 1" scheme to determine probability. Why not use xX and xC?

Plus it has the knock-on effect that once a probability far-fetched big enough, you can start talking about it as being worth of old man Hahnemann and his water mixing...

Interesting idea, but one never encounters those kind of odds in gambling. The low end of the homeopathy number system is 10X, and winning the state lottery is far more likely.

10X would be like the probabilty of me personally riding a triple crown winner.

30C might be the probablility of me personally winning the triple crown on foot.
