Final Cut Press Release

Lol jhunter1163, nice analogy.

Yeah I wouldn't exactly be proud of having DRG in charge of "fact" checking at all. Score one for the debunkers I say.

Rosa Parks, Simon Wiesenthal, Winston Churchill, and Nelson Mandela

I hope this has been screen cap'd! This can be used against them, in ways they never imagined!

And Nominated Red! Bravo!

We will release our new film Loose Change Final Cut on the weekend preceding September 11th 2007, with screenings planned in key cities in the United States. Where we can’t release theatrically we will release online through pay-per-view. Already distributors in the UK, Australia, Norway, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, France, Finland, Italy, and Japan are clamouring for rights to show the film in movie theatres and television stations are making bids to show the film soon after theatrical release.

I'm a little confused by this "Already distributors.." thing. Already? Isn't it getting a little late if it's going to make it into theaters in September?

I'm in the second largest city in Norway and looked up the September, November and December lineup without seeing Loose Change there. Haven't we been clamoring loudly enough? :(

Although... I guess "screenings" doesn't necessarily have to imply actual movie theaters.

In Finland's case I very strongly doubt any theatrical release. Only a couple of screenings at some small independent festivals or truther conferences. Nothing new there.

I just read the press release. I just love the wording used:

"...demonic forces that seek to silence us...vicious intimidation...intimidators...attacking our supporters...continued resolve ...our campaign...are all fighting...attacks on our supporters...not veer from our course...confront our enemies...counter the evil...battles we have fought...attack...attack...intimidate...each person they strike...We will prevail...."

Sorry Dylan, but this isn't a war at all. Not even a skirmish.

Not to step on Redtail's excellent post, but Dylan and his buddies have done nothing more than make a movie. That's it. The rest of the truthers spend their time posting on forums and making their own crummy movies (possibly to gain some attention of their own).

Battles? Fighting? Attacks? Hardly.

The truth movement gives importance to their lives. Look at the wording of Dylan's press release. He paints himself and the truthers as heros. They are the little guys fighting the noble fight (a fight that consists entirely of Youtube and ignorance.)

Keep tilting at those windmills turthers... Dylan Quixote rides again.

Not only is it excessive use of war language, it's excessive use of cliche. Have you ever seen so many cliches in one place? It reads like Cary Elwes' parody Winston Churchill speech from Robin Hood: Men In Tights. If Toby Keith ever sees it, he'll have enough material for two new albums and a Ford Truck commercial.

Since this seems to be theater bound, is that going to limit any 'ScrewLooseChange' or 'Loose Change Viewer's Guide' type debunkings due to the copyright issues?

No it would be legitimate under "critique".

I kind of share SezMe's fears. That is, I believe really stupid documentaries full of garbage not only have the potential to be accepted by a lot of people, but it happens often.

I addressed this in another thread, but I don't think the danger is anyone actually doing anything with this information. People don't care. But they will believe it. Not necessarily all of it - indeed they might not actually believe any of the specific claims - but they'll swallow the idea that something's wrong, the government lied, bla bla. Were you to show Loose Change to every single person in the western world, I guarantee you that over half would walk away from it believing the US government had a hand in 9/11.

They won't do anything about it, any more than people who are convinced humans are going to destroy the earth in 50 years stop driving their SUV.

Humans have an incredible knack for having a belief system that's completely at odds with their actions.

And so the general notion that the US government might have been involved in 9/11 will seep into the population's general knowledge, as quietly and unseen, these and other false notions retard our collect knowledge.

Now, all of this relies on people seeing it. I don't for a second believe lots of people are going to see it. They will never get a significant theatrical release, let alone the sort of advertising campaign that will bring people in to see it.

But I think it's naive and foolish for us to think that the average person would reject it out of hand. They won't. They'll believe it. There's ample evidence to support that.

As a European observer, what frustrates me about this current climate in America, given these truthers, is an incredible amount of selfishness.

To explain I'll repeat the paraphrase that vespa guy posted above
"...demonic forces that seek to silence us...vicious intimidation...intimidators...attacking our supporters...continued resolve ...our campaign...are all fighting...attacks on our supporters...not veer from our course...confront our enemies...counter the evil...battles we have fought...attack...attack...intimidate...each person they strike...We will prevail...."

To me, that comes off as incredibly spoilt. There sit all these truthers, in their comfortable suburban homes, who will get paid to go through university by their parents, and they compare something like Fox News to "demonic forces" keeping them down. I'm reminded of this dude from ground zero.

The woman says that he is naive and ignorant, but this guy has actually been in a war, he actually knows what it is like to be shot and and be oppressed.
As much as we can condemn the Bush Administration for rushing through the patriot act in a very undemocratic manner, in comparison to what the states in different countries have done in the past, complaining about it comes off as nothing but selfish. What personal freedom have these truthers actually lost?
I for example, sit here in London, and go to my GP for free, he puts me on Sertraline that only costs 6 pounds a month. If I break down in a car, someone will come out and fix it for me. If the tap is blocked, I call in a plumber. Sure, ID cards are a useless invention, but to complain hysterically about them when you see the abuse of citizens in Burma is just plain spoilt.

So, why do these truthers feel the need to feel 'oppressed'? Is it because it is much more exciting than a mundane existence in which their parents fund them through school?

Avery ending Loose Change with "We must act now, with the little freedoms we have left" simply diminishes the real, true abuses of the human condition everywhere.

Hoping someone will follow up on my long thought here:D , but I hope you get what I mean?

From a previous post, some details of how other documentaries have fared in the US:

I suspect that most of Dylan's footage is going to look like crap when it's transferred to 35mm film and projected onto a decent sized screen. I can;t see many theatres being interested in taking the movie.

Also, I'm pretty sure that all this talk of $20m advertising budgets and aiming for 3,000 screens is rubbish. Here's some details of documentaries that I had heard of (spoiler tagged because it's a long list)

"Demonic forces"?

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." - Ephesians 6:12.

Hey, didn't we use to be NWO shills? Now we're creatures from the Pit.

Cool!

I'd write a reply to Avery here, but most of it would be rule8-ed. Much kudos to Redtail for putting it more eloquently than I could.

I will, however, poke fun at a few bits.

Dylan "Painful Deceptions" Avery said:
We wholeheartedly condemn the actions of the disgraceful rabble that are attacking our supporters, and put them on notice of our continued resolve to expose the biggest hoax in history.

We do too, hoaxer.

Dylan "EEEdiot" Avery said:
Furthermore, we believe that in attracting the vilification of those who clearly don’t respect the 1st amendment of the US constitution means we have reached a point in our campaign from which there is no turning back.

Oh, I totally respect the 1st amendment. I respect your right to be a jabbering dunce by showing everyone how many lies your vomit from your mouth.

Dylan "Noxious Fumes" Avery said:
400 leading professors, pilots, physicists, politicians, law enforcement officials, 9/11 victim’s families are all fighting for 9/11 truth. Crucially according to respected pollsters, ‘Zogby’ over 42% of the American population, now believe that there has been a cover up over 9/11.

Gee, I thought it was 83% or whatever the hell it was.

Dylan "Screwball" Avery said:
The evidence we have collated for the movie has been fact-checked for accuracy by Dr. David Ray Griffin, and our message, that the official story of 9/11 cannot be true, will resonate around the world.

Theologian, engineer, physicist, same thing.

Dylan "Tomb Raider" Avery said:
Like Rosa Parks, Simon Wiesenthal, Winston Churchill, and Nelson Mandela, we will not veer from our course and we will not shut up.

I here you can generate cheap electricity by applying magnets to the spinning coffins of these people.

Dylan "Pants on Fire" Avery said:
None of us chose 9/11 as our cause; it chose us. We didn’t want to believe the hoax of 9/11 but our heads and our hearts told us; that the official story just didn’t add up; that the laws of physics can’t lie; that 300 degree celsius fires can’t melt steel; that Building Seven, that 47 story steel and concrete edifice couldn’t just implode suddenly at 5.20PM on the afternoon of 11th September; and the BBC couldn’t have predicted and announced its implosion 20 minutes before it happened, unless forewarned.

No, physics doesn't lie. But you can.

Dylan "Ego-Man" Avery said:
Our movement has representatives from every country, every religion, every political strand, every income group, millions of us, all united in our conviction that the official story of 9/11 cannot be true. Our number is growing exponentially each day, as the clarity of our message gradually shines through - the fog of war promising to lift, with the dawn of the truth and a new day. We will expose the crime that was 9/11. We will prevail.

I guess those public speaking classes are paying off.

What's this about "the vilification of those who clearly don’t respect the 1st amendment of the US constitution"?

Is someone suing him over copyright issues, or what?

Dylan: "Criticism is oppression of free speech! Waa! Waa!"

In honor of our heroes, who by their press release have declared their intent for "the dawn of truth and a new day," I hereby dedicate this song to their glory. It is to the tune of "Do You Hear the People Sing" from the Broadway show "Les Miserables."

"Do You Hear the Twoofers Sing?"

AVERY
Do you hear the twoofers sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the bull**** of a forum
Which will never think again!
When the coldness of your heart
Echoes the void between your ears
From sanity we thus depart
Cuz' Final Cut nears!

BERMAS
Will you join my foolish quest?
Who will be wrong and lie with me?
Beyond the LCF
Is there a world you fail to see?

ROWE
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be mean!

AVERY
Will you pay all you can pay
So that my wallet may grow large?
Disagree, we call you "gay"
The truth is yours for a small charge!
The blood of the victims
Will pay for my widescreen TV!
