Hey All

I have a friend you who is having difficulty converting files. I'm an idiot when it comes to this kind of thing. I know you Mac lovers out there may be able to help. Any ideas? Thanks!

"I was not told abt the difficulty of reading/converting "msg" files
when making the conversion to OSX from WIndows. Any ideas? The Mac
Store is stumped. The situation is as follows:

I've numerous "msg" files in documents which cannot be read. I've
iWork 08 installed. Some of the discussion forums that I've read say
to convert the "msg" file to a "eml" file. Not sure how to do this...
that is if it works. There's some doubt abt it."

I have a nagging suspicion that the .msg files (emails) are embedded in MS Office documents. That means that their content is not really part of the Office file, just a 'link' to the original email. They cannot be opened on the Mac since the original emails are not there. If I'm correct, your friend is SOOL; the files would only open on the original machine which also has the emails in an application that supports the embedding (i.e. Outlook).

[As fas as stand-alone .msg files are concerned, there should be no problem to open them with Mail, or an open-source email client like Thunderbird.] EDIT: Sorry, I got that wrong. Confused some formats.
