Fantasy book suggestions

Tyrion's my favorite character in Martin's series, and I was so miffed at the fourth book and Tyrion's absence. I like Dany, too.

Ahh but book 5 will be all about Jon, Davos, Tyrion and Dany (and some others)
Same time period as book 4.
Arya didn't appear enough in book 4, so I hope she'll appear more in book 5.

And yes Tyrion rocks.

Hasn't anyone mentioned Fritz Leiber's wonderfully diverting series (each very stand-alone) featuring those two Hyperborian rogues Fafrhd and the Gray Mouser? Sword and sorcery with tongue in cheek.

William Morris's The Wood Beyond the World

It was an influence on Tolkien, Dunsany, and the other great fantasy authors.
It's written in an old form of English, and the characters are little one-dimensional, but you can download it free (public domain book) from Project Gutenberg.

Don't worry, he'll be back in the next volume. And Dany, too. I thought I was the only one who liked her! It seems most people don't. But how she went from the frightened, weak virgin young girl to the badass, regal, take-no-**** young queen was amazing. Great character arc there.
