"Exploded Nodes" in Crop Circles

Anathema: What was the bit in that show about the MIT students concerning the helicopter that had a power problem while hovering over the circle?

They pretty well passed over it, without putting much emphasis on the event. They showed the rapid decent and recovery, then interviewed the pilot who gave a matter-of-fact report on "losing RPMs". He didn't seem to be entertaining any paranormal position.

They did buzz the circle pretty close a couple of times -- which leads me to wonder if kicking up dust loaded with all of the iron they seeded over the area may have interfered with the engine.

One other curious thing --- during the testing of the microwave blaster, they freaked out all of the audio and video gear, and apparently drained a fully charged battery on one piece of equipment (as reported by the cameraman). The paranormal fanatics note similar disruptions in supposed "real" crop circles: power losses, erratic video, etc. --- but there weren't any aliens around for this "spoofed" circle. They did use that bit to segue back to the woo interviewee who describe "energy phenomena" associated with other cirlces.

The last bit that struck me was the "researcher" who believes that a large number of the circles are indeed hoaxes, but not all of them. He described the hoaxers as "pagan wiccan anarchists", but didn't offer any further comment. So, we now have an alien-fantasy-wrapped-in-a-pagan-wiccan-conspiracy. How can it get any better than that?
