PS that said, they are starting to get slowly but surely more annoying.....now every time I start up my PC/browser I get that crap to the right of the screen, as well as scrolling all the way down the screen, about how great they are. :rolleyes: If that's the worst of it, OK, but I doubt it.
 
My browser pre-loads all the pages I had open when I closed it. I search from the address bar. Every browser can do both of those things, which means that I literally never have to actually look at a search engine.

If the appearance of the search engine's home page annoys you, there are easy ways around that.
