Does Obama Have a "White" Problem?

Two potential Veep picks from VA: Webb and Warner. Ted Strickland from Ohio is also in the mix
Webb is going to run into trouble with his more adult rated novels. He was saved a lot of scrutiny due to the GOP Allen "Macca" problem. I don't know about the Warner, he may be OK. Ted Strickland is very liberal and provides no balance to Obama's own liberal record. I have a feeling Obama is going to have to go with a woman just to appease Hillary's voters. He doesn't appear to have much wiggle room on his VP pick.

And interesting statistic ...

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/05/20/1042914.aspx

... According to Democratic politico Mike Berman, Obama has dominated the states with the largest or smallest black populations, while Clinton fares MUCH better in the states in between. Berman writes in his Washington Political Watch that Obama “has won 12 of the 15 contests in which the African-American population is less than 4%, and 10 of the 11 contests in which the African-American population is greater than 16%. In those 18 states where the population ranges from 4%-16%, Obama won 8, while Clinton won 11.” ...

What will be most interesting, will be to return here in November, after the election, and compare the comments about all of Obama's "problems", to what actually transpired.

TAM:)

. . . as we assess the next four years of President Ron Paul's administration.

71% of Hillary supporters 'in Kentucky', say they won't vote for Barrack if he is the nominee...

While only 29% of Barrack supporters say they wouldn't vote for Hillary.

Which means what, exactly?

Frankly, it sounds like the good folks in KINtuckey may be a little racist, because policy-wise, there is very little difference between Hillary and Barrack.

So why else would a democratic voter refuse to support Barrack???

It means people's passions are high when after they've just voted in a heated primary. I'll wait for the nominations to solidify and the loser to endorse (or not) the winner before I rush to any judgments.

Rather than start a new thread. I thought what I found might be appropriate here. My friend was sent this by an elderly lady friend of his:

"Subject: Fw: THIS MAN IS DANGEROUS

THIS MAN IS DANGEROUS

I wouldn't recommend purchasing his books, but checking them out from the public library and verifying the quotes! This is a dangerous individual that has not been truthful evidently, with very much he has uttered in public. Particularly the last quote!

This guy wants to be our President and control our government. Pay close attention to the last comment!! Be low are a few lines from Obama's books "his words:

From Dreams of My Father: "I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

From Dreams of My Father: "I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers race."

From Dreams of My Father: "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."

From Dreams of My Father: ; "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

From Dreams of My Father: "I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela."

From Audacity of Hope: "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction." "

Even if these quotes were all true, I really don't see what's wrong with this statement. I can think of a few "ugly directions" that would encourage me to stand with Muslims. In addition, they aren't all terrorists.

A master's thesis in cherry picking there.

It does not matter, unless for some reason, something is severely taken out of context. If not, cherry picking is fine.

The more I hear Obama open his mouth, the more wary I am of him. I am putting 2 and 2 together about his quick assention through the political ranks, where he acts like he has all the oversimplified answers, yet he has not paid his political dues yet to qualify for President.

I do not take lightly that comment where he called that reporter "sweetie". To me that is just one MORE thing. Sounds egotistical cocky chauvenistic, where he is 'above' women. I could never call a woman, I did not feel intimate with, "sweetie", in the context he did. Another one is calling them 'sweatheart'.

I admit, to be fair, that is where proper context is needed, most certainly. Otherwise this is a case of someone intentionally and unfairly trying to derail him.

And they were. Read the Snopes link to see how badly. Some were plain old lies. They changed significant words in his quotes.
Edited to add your later comment:

Yes. If you look at the recent Snopes entries, you will see no less than four new items dealing with people unfairly trying to derail Obama. Some are even more egregious than the one you quoted.

He's been a political force since he gave the keynote speech at the Democratic convention four years ago and he has been a Senator. It shouldn't shock you that during campaigns, politicians give somewhat oversimplified answers. The only candidate I can remember not doing it was Ross Perot, and he wasn't wrapped too tight.

My, you pick some important issues on which to base your vote, sweetie.

God, I loved that line. Respect!

You're only allowed that in the throes of full hot-and-sticky passion; perhaps you have not encountered that situation yet, and even then, you would be better off sticking to "sweetheart" at that time. Makes you sound too much like someone who dreams of becoming a cardiologist otherwise.

He wouldn't call them "sweetie", but he would ask if their breasts are real.

Come visit the South sometime, specifically South Carolina. You'll hear it quite often in many places. It's quite typically a term of endearment. It gets used with me quite often. Sure, some don't care for it. I personally don't mind it unless it has an insulting intent. But most accept it as nothing but an accepted endearment.

In Maryland they use "hun" short for "honey"

So who made more money Cindy McCain or Michelle Obama? I would love to see Cindy McCain calling Michelle Obama elitist. LOL McCain has more money then Obama. John McCain calls Obama an elitist? McCain will probaly lose.
