After hashing some of the questions and comments in another thread concerning Israel and Palastine I am curious if most believe Israel has the right to exist.

Didn't vote since I don't care for any of your choices. And you must check out other polls here and remember to add the "Planet X" option...

My vote would have been "Yes, but with shared control of Jerusalem and a negotiated boundary for the West Bank, a limited right to return, and full diplomatic recognition by the Arab and Muslim world.

I'm with Hutch. No vote due to lack of choices in the (un)holy land rights.

Negotiated West Bank boundary (symbolic 1967 as a starter?), sharing of Jerusalem & a full recognition of the state of Israel. That I'd vote for.

I'm with Hutch apart from I'm not too bothered about the negotiated bit for pragmatic reasons i.e. Israel can enforce any borders it wishes so in the end it is up to Israel.

I believe that Isreal has the right to exist.
I believe that Palestine has the right to exist.
I believe that the People's Free Republik of Kalifornia has the right to exist.
I believe that Grand Ledge, Michigan ought to be annexed by Waverly in its entirety.
I believe it's time for a beer.

For a single state solution I think you have to ignore reality, the Palestinians exist and want their own state, the Israelis exist and want their own state.

It may not be the most realistic solution but there is some support for this idea among both Israelis and Palestinians (Hammas for example) and there are a few reasons why it might be a good idea.

Very realistic though? At this point I'd say no.

I believe that asking "do you support Israel's right to exist" is the political equivalent of asking how long I've been beating my rabbits.

You forgot the Planet X choice.

"On Planet X, everyone eats bacon and lobster for breakfast."

ETA: by the way, Israel has already established its right to exist, the old fashioned way: by blood and iron. Your question is irrelevant.

The Isreali's took* that land and made a country. It was fair and square. That's the way it has always been done.

They certainly have the right to defend themselves from other folks who want to do the same thing, in the same area. That's the way it has always been done.

I guess the real question is, Do the "Palestinians" have the right to try to take it from the Jews? If so, If the Palestinians lose, don't the Isrealis have the right to take the losers land? That's the way it has always been done.

It's TRaditiooN! (a la Zero Mostel)

*actually, by the 40's, the Jews had bought up most of the land.

casebro, I can't tell if you're being satirical or not.

Personally I can't think of a good reason why Israel should exist.

It has a right to exist because it does exist, just because it is a modern state it does not have any more or less right to exist than any other state.

I hope the results so far are a result of people trying to be funny (and missing the boat - badly).

When I become world dictator and makes it all the Country of Hawk Onia, you'll never see a more justified country in the world, TM.
