According to various news accounts, Caffeine Soap supposedly gives you a "caffeine buzz". However, whether is actually does it up for debate. Do you think it works?

From a website selling it:

Tired of waking up and having to wait for your morning java to brew? Are you one of those groggy early morning types that just needs that extra kick? Know any programmers who dont regularly bathe and need some special motivation? Introducing Shower Shock, the original and world's first caffeinated soap from ThinkGeek. When you think about it, ShowerShock is the ultimate clean buzz ;)

I don't know how much caffeine you can absorb through your skin, and the delivery system consists of glycerine with peppermint which is a stimulant in itself, isn't it? Why peppermint? Glycerine soap wouldn't explode if you infused a little caffeine into it.

My completely WAG is that they have the peppermint because the smell gives you a rush and like most mints, that "freshness" feeling.

I haven't seen any blind tests. Until I do, I'm going to assume it's Woo. Is there any such thing as peppermint soap? It'd be easy enough to test peppermint vs peppermint decaf. I think people are feeling the rush because they want to feel the rush.

Palmolive has an Aroma Therapy soap out over here. The first time you use it (liquid soap), you really concentrate on feeling how nice it is on your hands and convince yourself it's doing something extra. It isn't. I put dishwashing soap into the container and my guests commented how awesome the Aroma Therapy soap was!!!

Unless the soap contains DMSO, no functional amount of caffeine is entering your system from it.

I saw a commercial for a soap "rich in antioxidants" last night, and they kept showing cranberries exploding through gushing water, and then a naked body getting all scrubbed up and bubbly.

I wasn't aware that the skin was the best method of delivering the healing properties of antioxidants (or caffeine, for that matter). What's wrong with good old-fashioned ingested liquids?!

I see no mechanism for the caffeine to enter the body through skin contact with whatever small amount is present in the soap.

BS and marketing trump thinking every time, don't they?

No the soap is clearly ment for eating.

What I want to know is what happens if you use the soap and then apply a kinoki detox footpad after putting on clothes that have fabric softener on them.

Good thing there isn't a penis soap, there are some things I really don't want in me.

I like peppermint and it is quite refreshing. I've used shampoos with peppermint and it does feel really nice on the scalp. Quite cooling and refreshing.

However, I don't think I would like it in soap. There are certain areas of the body it would not feel good on. Guys, you know what I mean.
