Following this articlePsychic toad
I have emailed the journalist thus:-
Hi Adrian ,excuse the unusual approach(but you did have your email address on this article)Id just like to point out a couple of things regarding Dennis Mackenzie a)Hes not clairvoyant, there is no such thing.Fact.
b) Regards the Soham case"he gave police a series of clues pointing to killer Ian Huntley" No he didnt.DNA evidence and forensic evidence from the bodies and clothing linked to Huntley, and a rambler happened upon the bodies.I know of his involvement, and saying "There is a river,I see a windmil(wasnt one)a red car(Huntley had a red car ,but was already a suspect so no big insight there) One wonders why he didnt get Huntley's name, address etc.He later claimed to pass messages from one of the girls to her parents.Yet again no mention of Huntley-the girls knew him!
Sorry to go on regards Soham, its a minor point in your article.People like Mckenzie are dangerous and hinder police investigations. If £80,000 reward cant bring info then nothing will.
Why doesnt Mckenzie come up with the reg plate. He can "see" its a white car,(despite adamant witnesses who say van)why not the reg plate or the drivers name.Maybe a follow up piece putting his amazing powers to strict conditioned testing would be good.Ask him and let me know his excuses.
Regards

Maybe other members would like to do the same.
(Trying not to sound like a children's TV presenter there, lol);)

My e-mail to the reporter:

I know you have been contacted already about this alleged medium, but I had a question regarding journalism in general.

Why is it considered newsworthy that a 'medium' is involved in a case like this, yet it is not considered newsworthy to follow up on the results provided by the 'medium'?

It might be interesting and educational for readers of newspapers to occasionally be exposed to the facts about these cases.

Many of the general public believe that psychics and mediums are almost routinely called in by the Police to assist them. This is not the case. If a psychic contacts the police offering information the police, of course, have to follow this up (as they would for any tip off). But they never solicit the help of these people and often have a great deal of their time wasted by following up these bogus claims.
This is police policy and verifiable by any British or Welsh police force.

A casual reader would not get that impression from your story.

A search of the internet discovers this follow up:
http://icsouthlondon.icnetwork.co.u...park-opens-to-elliott-s-memory-name_page.html

There is no mention of Dennis McKenzie or his complete lack of success. The hit and run driver has never been caught, and now we have more confusion about the actual vehicle thanks to Dennis McKenzie. Articles like yours are one of the reasons people are often very misinformed about the role and success rate of psychics.

Why do we never read an article detailing a psychic's failure?
Why does no-one investigate the potentially damaging effect on the grieving process these interfering people might have?
Why is it never mentioned that NO CRIME EVER has been solved due to a psychics involvement.

Dennis McKenzie is now in the US in Wichita involving himself in another high-profile investigation:
http://www.kansas.com/mld/eagle/9786873.htm

Do you honestly think that people wouldn't be interested in reading about the actual results (or lack thereof) obtained by these psychics?

Do you not feel you owe it to the readers to explain the facts about these cases?

If you came across a story about a fraud doing what some of these psychics did would you not condsider that newsworthy?

I honestly thought it was the job of reporters and the media to try and get across all facts to their readers, not just the ones that sound exciting but may not actually be true.

Here's the latest on this man:

Dennis the Menace to Society

Surprise surprise, he's over in Wichita as part of a documentary. He sure does like being in the paper and on TV.

They flew him over to Wichita without telling him where he was going (sure, sounds extremely likely) then gave him information a bit at a time. Of course there's no way he could have found out anything about the BTK killer any other way is there?

At least the Detective in charge of the investigation sounds sceptical about Dennis and his involvement.

Hey shouldn't we have heard all about the fabulous Dennis McKenzie's success in captring the BTK Killer by now?

Or is this another example of

NEWSWORTHY: PSYCHIC BROUGHT IN TO HELP CATCH KILLER!

Not newsworthy: Psychic fails to provide any information and quietly slinks away

And we wonder why so many people continue to believe in all this nonsense...

Dennis did actually identify the killer as a spotty old guy who ran a sandwich bar. But that was the BLT killer. The "line" to the spirits is soooooo fuzzy.
