Democrat Jenny Oropeza was holding an early lead in a state Senate race in California — even though the 53-year-old incumbent died Oct. 20.

This happens every once in a while, but I'd hate to be the guy who loses to a dead person.

I hear that in some places, at some times, the dead have made up a significant proportion of the active voters, so it’s not too surprising that every now and again they mange to get one of their own elected.
