Sorry Pig, my post was in reply to Bell but I do agree, I think a few books will be sold on the back of the show, if only to people wanting to know what he is doing / thinking now.

After all this is the man that went from goalkeeper to conspiracy theorist via sports commentator and messiah.

No he didn't. I watched the show. He stated that he was a son of God - not the Son of God; he certainly never claimed to be "the Messiah". He's a lunatic, but that's no reason to misquote him.
 
Of course the punchline was when wogan pointed out to him that the audience was in fact laughing AT him, not WITH him.

I apologise for any misquotation of Mr Icke but in my defence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Icke also states that he claimed to be “The Son on God” and cited Ronson, Jon. "David Icke, the Lizards, and the Jews" (video), Channel 4 Television, retrieved May 22, 2006 as the source.
