Back in '89 we were working on some AI stuff, and had purchased a PC to run GoldWorks, a powerful AI system. We bought powerful daughter boards for the standard PC slots that had this proverbial 20MHz 386 as well as 8 MEG OF RAM. $10k each. The Goldworks ran off those daughter boards.


Ahhh, the 20 MHz 386. The processor that gave birth to decent 3D in the Wolf 3D game...
 
And remember that's $10k in 1989 dollars, when entire cars cost, like, five whole dollars and nickle gumball machines could still be found.
