No. That's precisely the point I'm making.

The Google apps only work because you have a fast local CPU. Data storage has moved to the cloud, but processing is local.
 
Activision pays for us to get new boxes every year or so. Right now us programmers are running 8 cores (what is that, dual quad cores?) and we will be upgrading to 16 very soon they tell me.
Yep, either dual quads or a Core i7 which is four cores / eight threads.

And yet, regardless of how many extra cores are there in the future, Folding@home will still manage to bring them all to a standstill for a mac. :p
