Anybody remember "complementary angles" from their high school geometry class? (Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?)

No, I must have had the day off! :D

Yeah, that's right, meet in a place that no one's ever heard of. :D
I've heard of it.
Of course, the seat of Australian government is really London...

(But I knew it couldn't last)

BTW, I've always pictured you as looking a bit like Ferris (you know, smartarsy sort of face :D ). Am I even close?

(Why the brackets? Is this admission an aside?)

Nothing ever does; my statement was 100% correct, however. Why else does the Oz flag include the Union Jack, and why else would the Oz PM invite the Queen to open the 2000 Sydney Olympics?

I don't know who Ferris is. Could you please explain?
(BTW, it does not surprise me in the least that my arse is smarter than your brain... :p )

Kimpatsu,

I'll explain this slowly so that you will have a chance. :D

The brackets were to explain why I was using the smilie. (I generally don't need to use them but I make exceptions sometimes. :) )

That the Australian flag contains a union jack, is an historical accident and an anachronism which our PM refused to change. Me, I don't care one way or the other.

The Queen is coming because the PM asked her to. It would have been impolite not to ask her and impolite for her to refuse. But, in fact, they both like each other very much so, really, she had pleasure in coming.

Anyway, the Queen has no say over Australians - we are a law unto ourselves. ;)
(Yes, I knew you would like that one. :) )

Oh, and you missed several puns in this thread, then, if you don't know who Ferris is. You would not have understood the following for example:

"Anybody remember "complementary angles" from their high school geometry class? (Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?)"

I am referring particularly to the part in - you guessed it - brackets! It is a referrence to a cult movie called "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". It was a line by Bueller's teacher who was attempting, unsuccessfully, to get an answer to his question. (You would have been right at home in that class! ;) )

And you would not have understood my response:

No, I must have had the day off! :D

I have underlined the important bit for you just in case, but I think you get it now. Again I only do this in special cases such as yours. :)

regards,
BJ (BillyJoe)

In other words, you are making excuses for the fact that you are a colonial and under me.
Bloody criminals. You even stole the best land and the best sunshine!
Oh, and you speak poorly...
(BTW, WTF is "Ferris Bueller"? Anything like a Ferris wheel?)

No. Australia is now a part of the USA. The Australian PM does whatever the USA president tells him to.
Yet another colony of the motherland... :p :D

Oh, I know you are trying to pay me a complement (and, with that, this thread comes full circle;) ) but that you can't resist a bit of an uppercut at the same time. Well, it's a start anyway. :)

But because you're upside down, any uppercut must be moving in the wrong direction... :p

Okay, that was a bit funny, I have to admit it, but with a sting as always.

How far exactly does your knowledge extend, Kimpatsu?
Now it's cricket!

Yeah three wickets, but a day or so ago it looked like a whole innings! And, remember, a win in the last and we draw and keep the urn.

Its odds on, I reckon.

:D

May the best team win.
I haven't had so much fun watching the Ashes in years.
(BTW, when I was a student at London Uni, I lived within two minutes' walk of the Fosters Oval.)
