based on the teachings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and detailed in his book Clear Body, Clear Mind—purports to "flush" poisons from the body's fat stores using an intensive regimen of jogging, oil ingestion, sauna, and high doses of vitamins, particularly niacin.

Oil ingestion?

Remind me, what does niacin do?

Niacin (B3)
Niacin is an essential vitamin that supports energy metabolism and reactions involving biosynthesis and degradation as part of the pyridine nucleotide coenzymes, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). The levels of oxidized and reduced forms of these coenzymes establish the redox potential in cells that regulates metabolic activities involving mitochondrial electron transport and numerous enzyme reactions.

Taking vitamins and going jogging?

High doses of Niacin are toxic though.

As mentioned in the article. I guess it's not water soluble?

How conterproductive.

Hubbard is so dangerous in so many ways, which to choose?

How high? I take 3000 grams per day to control cholesterol. This is on medical advice by a real doctor.

3000 grams per day?????? That's more niacin than water!

Is that niacin or potatoes?

You do know that 3000 grams is nearly 7 pounds, yes? I'm not sure I take 7 pounds of anything over the course of a day. Even 3000 mg of niacin is a hell of a dose, but I've seen reports that levels that high are used in a rare cases to control cholesterol. Even in that use, 3000 mg is at the upper end of the scale; I think that 1000mg or thereabouts is more typical.

I think you mean 3000mg. 3000g might be more than your stomach can handle.

Anyway, you don't need to be a Scientologist to eat right and excercise well.

My bad. 3 grams, 3000 mg.

And I do eat right now, but there was a matter of bringing it down from near-fatal levels.

35mg per day is about the maximum recommended. Yeah, there might be some therapies that call for high doses.

Usually best to follow your doctor's orders, but ALWAYS best to understand your meds and what they are for. Just ask your doc.

Oooops! that was a typo, the prescription should be 30mg...
