So I've switched back to Chrome for my day-to-day web browsing.

I've tried it before, back when it was still an early Beta, and I didn't consider it stable enough for regular use. But I just reinstalled the latest version, and I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised. I like it so much that I've returned to using the web interface for GMail rather than a client. After all, that's exactly the sort of thing that Chrome was designed to do. And it does it very well.

I've installed a number of useful extensions, but I don't want to go overboard. Extension bloat was one of the reasons Firefox was performing badly for me (alas, it does not appear that Chrome has a Read It Later extension yet - I am forced (oh noes!) to use a bookmarklet).

So far it handles all of the websites I visit regularly with aplomb. I haven't yet had any kind of a problem. I am impressed.

Seriously I quite like Chrome, mind you the auto "speed dial" page does bug me , what I want quick access to is often not what I may be clicking on a lot, I'd rather choose that myself.

Yeah, usually I open a new tab and type the address I want before the default page even appears.

Incidentally, this version of Chrome (as I mentioned in a PM to Darat) does not suffer from the "logout after 20min" bug that I've had with all other platforms in all other environments. Must be the phase of the moon.

I love Chrome.

Fast, simple and clear.

Firefox seemed to get slower by the week, happily ditched it.
haven't looked IE in years, has it stopped sucking yet? Or does it have the "simplified" bar at the top like all new MS programs? I hate the 'improved" Excel.
I use Opera on my phone, haven't checked the PC version out recently.

For now, it looks like Chrome is my browser.

I usually have several tabs open at once. So having a page crash only mess up its own tab and not crash chrome entirely is really nice.

I'm also an opera fan (both on my win and linux boxes), but I have to admit Chrome isn't bad at all!

Chrome has its uses. however clearing cache, history and the like is a pain the butt, compared to IE and Firefox. The plugins are nice however

I like Chrome and use it at home. It's fast and stable. Maybe somebody can help me with the following problems:

I have a problem getting back to my home page in Chrome. I just can't find a button that lets me instantly give up and go home (I prefer home to be Yahoo).

Also, in Opera, if I close my last tab, it automatically takes me to the speed dial page. Then, when I'm using Chrome, I close my last tab and the whole program shuts off. Is there a way to keep Chrome from closing when the tabs are closed?

I tried Chrome again on a recommendation from a friend and I ditched it after my first new session on it. I have to zoom a lot because I like using native resolution and I sit about 3 feet from the monitor. Chrome wouldn't remember my zoom settings without a plug-in and there were formatting issues when I did zoom (Netflix was particularly bad).

I don't blame them too much since Firefox only got the zoom right pretty recently, but I won't be chroming it up until it gets fixed up.

You do realize Chrome has an "open incognito window", don't you? It lets you surf without having to worry about caches and history and crap. Wonderful thing.

well it becomes a problem when testing on the browser because it "does" have some type of cache. Flash/Video/Image assets has to be cached in the browser so that repeat visits doesn't tax the server or cause pages to take forever to load.

Without the ability to "clear" cache, it becomes a pain in the butt to code for, as you constantly have to restart the browser (to clear the "cache"), to see any changes that are made.

Yes, even the "shift + reload" will not help to clear any cache, especially with buggy flash (which is what Im testing for)

Wrong forum?
I consider the Internet to be "other Entertainment" :D

Clearly you have a special purpose in mind, which Chrome does not necessarily cater for. That's cool. I was referring to just general browsing. I have quite a limited range of wesbsites that I use regularly, and Chrome works perfectly well for them. :)

I accidentally 400lb of Stilton while using Chrome.

Is this bad?

Meh. I like Chrome well enough, and use it on the Mac. I can see limitations to it. Doesn't seem to like fullscreen.

Plus, I have a feeling Apple will soon be providing a clandestine firmware update that makes pungent hydrogen sulfide pour out of your monitor if it detects Google Chrome being used instead of Safari.

The think I like about add-ons is that they allow you to customise your browser to to exactly the things that you want it to do. Don't use Twitter? You don't need to install the extension. Want to block ads but still see Java games? You can do that. Everyone has different requirements.

I have an extension called "Send by Gmail", which automatically composes a Gmail message containing a link to the page I'm viewing. I happen to use that a lot. Other people might not, so they don't need the extension.
