Biology teachers don't support evolution...

More often it is the subtle and not so subtle expression of Xian mores and values.

My wife in her role at a mddle school is a cosponser of a Gay Straight Alliance, they have been asked to modify their bulletin board because of the word Gay, by people (faculty and staff) who are homophobic.

Now what many people don't know is that many of the GSA members are not there because they are gay but because their parents are gay.

Too true. A few years back, some moron in my school's history department kept teaching students that we didn't really ever send humans to the Moon. I found out about it and informed my students of Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy takedown of the Apollo Moon Hoax nutwads, and a number of my kids who had this clown for history took him down a few pegs the next time he brought it up. He ended up looking like a complete fool in front of his own classes.

The capper is that he got let go from the job before he acquired tenure :)

So it's not a hoax? :D

I remember watching it on a 13" B&W TV on a neighbor's front porch. I was in my early teens. I don't know when the hoax stories started, but I would imagine we discussed it in school. The event, not any possibility of it being a hoax. :)

That's a great story!

Do you know if the experience changed the moron's mind?

No, I don't know. But I don't really care, either. For me it was enough that he got pwned when he spewed his Moon Hoax nonsense and got sent packing by the more responsible members of the social studies department :)
