Ben Carson

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson handily won the Southern Republican Leadership Conference straw poll on Saturday, the first major survey to take the temperature of the Republican presidential field in the south.

Carson, a staunch opponent of Obamacare who is popular among social conservatives, captured 25.4% of the vote in a pool that counted nearly 20 candidates, including announced and prospective hopefuls for the party's 2016 nomination. Runners-up Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz also received large shares of the vote, finishing with 20.5% and 16.6%, respectively.

I'm assuming that this is like the Oklahoma straw poll where his staff purchased a large percentage of the tickets

Apparently the furniture was ordered by an invisible force, sort of like a virgin birth.

Carson said:
I made it known that I was not happy about the prices being charged and that my preference would be to find something more reasonable.

This even got the Grifter-in-Chief pissed off.

His wife:

.....The purchase of the custom hardwood table, chairs and hutch came a month after a top agency staff member filed a whistle-blower complaint charging Mr. Carson’s wife, Candy Carson, with pressuring department officials to find money for the expensive redecoration of his offices, even if it meant circumventing the law....

Why on earth would someone's spouse be involved in such a matter?

Office redecoration:
Before I actually occupied my office, I was told what previous secretaries did when they redecorated. I was asked what I wanted to do.
I visited the basement where previously used furniture was kept and my wife visited as well. We selected some chairs and made some minor changes. Additionally drapes that had previously hung in my office were brought back and blinds were put on the windows. The total redecoration cost was less than $3500. This is considerably less than the historical norm.
I did not request new furniture, but asked if it could be remediated. I was subsequently told that it was beyond repair and needed to be replaced.1I briefly looked at catalogs for dining furniture and was shocked by the cost of the furniture. My wife asked if used furniture was an option.2 Our acquisition process did not allow for that.
We were told there was a $25,000 budget that had to be used by a certain time or it would be lost. I indicated that they needed to take care of the needs of the deputy secretary out of that money too. My wife also looked at catalogs and wanted to be sure that the color of the chair fabric of any set that was chosen matched the rest of the decour.
I made it known that I was not happy about the prices being charged and that my preference would be to find something more reasonable.3I left this matter alone to concentrate on much bigger issues4. I was as surprised as anyone to find out that a $31,000 dining set had been ordered. I have requested that the order be canceled. We will find another solution for the furniture replacement.

1- wtf ? beyond repair ? can we get a picture of what was there. I admit it - I'm incredulous.
2,3,4 - also incredulous

Just .... wow.

Sounds like the caps fell off of two broken teeth. Poor workmanship by hi usual dentist.

Not the lack of oral hygiene, but the big question is how did he lose them originally? Fight? Fall down while drunk? Or bit off more than he could chew?

Or maybe an oral filling way too big for him....:confused::confused:

No kidding. Where would our government officials get the idea that granting powers of office to relatives, like daughters and sons-in-law, is the thing to do?

;)

I know the point you are making but she doesn't seem to have any actual official position. Can you imagine this in a private business? Telling the CEO you've trashed your budget because your spouse wanted your office redecorated?
