I know, i'm not one to post much, yet have done so in round about ways not always liken to the topic at hand. Please forgive. So there's been much discourse surrounding Barrack Obama's 60th Birthday party, whereas one crowd cited it was nothing short of a mask-less crowd of elitists thumbing their noses at CDC protocols, while another crowd insists there were guidelines in place showing that if you followed them, you can indulge yourself in activities as previous to the covid19 pandemic. - The requirements for joining Barrack's Birthday bash? You must be vaccinated and likewise test negative for covid upon entering. The elitist part? I'm pretty sure that extends, 'or limits itself', to those who are otherwise of the affluent. Which is to be expected, considering how threatening a universal crowd poses on any person who's positions and accrued wealth from it have imposed a considerable amount of risk. For instance, look at JFK, or John Lennon. - As for the optics of it all, I can easily take either side. We are after all, still in the midst of a pandemic. One where partying along with mass get together's seriously needs a closer look. ... None the less, and for the sake of this nation, get vaccinated already. Its a war we can all win if we just would 'come together'. https://www.hhs.gov/immunization/who-and-when/military-members/index.html .. Note: Hopefully I posted this in the correct forum, as I'm visually compromised and quick to post a knee jerk reaction.

This another Republican whining bugaboo. CDC guidelines were followed. Republicans run ratlicker events constantly but one small party within guidelines and suddenly they rend their shirts in fake shock. Spare me.

Sir, this is a Wendy's. Can you please order or stand aside for the other customers.

This was pretty much the position I took upon reading about the final event. Still, a part of me felt uncomfortable about whether all the guidelines and such were actually being adhered to. And the fact we still remain in the midst of a pandemic. - This, probably the result of too much listening to both sides of the 'political' argument.

It was described as a "small party." Sturgis is a much, much larger event, but it's not a comparable kind of party. In normal times, something like hobbyists coming together to connect over a shared interest is way less gross and excessive than celebrating a domestic elite's birthday. The former is less gross in part because it's more inclusive (it's hosted in centrally located South Dakota as opposed to Rich People Island).

My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail. I wouldn't have gone, of course, I can't leave the house until I get these new hair extensions the right shade of autumn wheat.

It is a little known fact of Ghost trivia that Autumn Wheat is Sam Wheat's older sister who did shortly after her birth due to a congenital heart issue.

You don't think they were friends with the Obama's?

Let's not lose sight of the really important thing about Obama's party - why weren't Harry & Meghan there???

There's plenty of good reasons to be disillusioned by Obama, but this one is pretty weak tea. There's nothing new about Obama chumming it up with fellow wealthy people on Martha's Vineyard.

The fact that Obama has largely retired from the public eye and no longer impacts general politics is probably one of the kindest things to be said about him.

This is true, however, I don't view Obama's recent activities and Birthday as him being retired from the public's eye. Which is so unlike Trump.

Other than the birthday party I heard about here and obliquely on another forum, what are Obama's recent activities? Compared to Trump dissing US soccer players, natch.
