"Michele Bachmann Makes Surprise Visit To Synagogue, Congregants Storm Out And Donate To Her Opponent"

http://www.thedailydolt.com/2012/10...gregants-walk-out-and-donate-to-her-opponent/

I literally LOLed at this part:

Gary Sircus, a 25-year member of the Synagogue, recalled:

"The holiness of the room and the holiness of the evening was greatly diminished for me, if not completely destroyed. Our congregation values and embodies tolerance, compassion, respect for individual rights, intelligence, science — all of the things that I think Michele Bachmann stands against."

Bahahaha.

The claim sounded so bizarre, I checked to make sure the linked website was not a parody site. It is not.

I then stumbled upon some of the things M. Bachmann has publicly said. In the words of Joe Scarborough, "Oh, Sweet Jesus."

Is there some Republican-specific virus going about that so many seem to be doing and saying stupid things?

Everyone has the occasional slip up and says something stupid. But what bothers me about many of the right-wing slip ups is that they are so preventable. How can M. Bachmann not have an intern Googling the locations of upcoming appearances?

Sure. Absolutely. I guess what astonishes me is the sheer quantity and breadth of own-goals in such a compressed time-frame. It's like watching a political version of "The Replacements". If someone wrote this as a screenplay, it'd have to star David Spade and be broad comedy a la "Tommy Boy" 'cuz it sure wouldn't play as reality

Upchurch's source said no comment from Bachmann and no calls returned. This is starting to strike me as OP described, absolutely hilarious.

As much as I LOATHE Bachmann I think it is fair to point this out.

I was listening to an interview with someone who was actually there and he said that, while there were a lot of protests to the synagogue after the event and obviously no one there was really happy (in fact the word "disgusted" was used) only one person walked out and, to the eyewitness' knowledge only one person opted to donate money to Backmann's opponent.

While I don't disagree with people who feel this was an idiotic move by Bachmann and it does sound like she received a pretty cold reception by the crowd, I think this story may be a touch overblown.

Agree making too much of this. But it does show that supporters of Israel are not automatically Republicans - there are other issues involved.

One could even say not all Republicans are homophobic, bigoted war-mongering theocrats, but this is a skeptical site, and we'd demand evidence.

In Michelle Bachmann's defense, I also did not know what "Conservative Synagogue" meant before yesterday. I might have also assumed that it meant politically conservative. However, unlike Bachmann, I think I would have checked it out before I made plans based on my assumptions.

I'm surprised Bachmann lowered herself by paling around with a bunch of hell-bound Christ-killers.
