The suspicion is hard to avoid that there is something going on here other than just lack of interest in sex. There seems to be an aversion, maybe a fear. Given the reaction so many parents exhibit when their little ones exhibit an early sex interest, one has to wonder.I knew one asexual back in the day who would talk openly about it.
He had tried with both men and women and found it all rather clinical and a bit gross. He didn't masturbate as he found it mechanical and boring, but did have the occasional wet dream which he found to be a disgusting nuance.
He would always make a "grossed out" face whenever people discussed sex.
His non-orientation was never an issue, unless someone found him attractive and then he would just hide out for a few days.
I think claims people make about their sexual drives are usually to be taken at face value, but not always. I always claimed I was heterosexual, and even got married and had two children.
