Any Updates on Mark Basile's Study?

5 years later, that site still looks fresh and new. I almost expect to see a "Netscape Now!" button or a dancing baby animation.

My favorite is the "5th Annual 9/11 Physics Debate for 2018" where they "won" by default because no one accepted the challenge to "debate". If I remember, ANETA awarded the proceeds to themselves (Mark Basile) for this.....

As far as I can tell, Rick Shaddock, not Mark Basile, runs ANETA and would thus get to keep the proceeds. ANETA is an entirely fake charity (there is no formed or registered charitable entity that corresponds with it) that uses a fake office space mailing address in a rent-by-the-hour space to lend itself legitimacy to the unwary (e.g., truthers).

When I looked into it a few years ago, I found three other similar fake charities then run by Rick:

  1. "Association for Digital Currency" (http://a-dc.org/donate/index.htm)
  2. "Association for John Kennedy Assassination Truth" (http://jfktruth.org/donate/index.htm)
  3. "Association for Barack Obama Identity Truth" (http://www.obamatruth.us/donate/index.htm)

There may be others. Rick Shaddock is probably an even bigger fraudster than "Ziggi Zugam" or Mark Basile.

I hope truthers one day wake up and realize their "movement" leaders are simply preying upon them and monetizing their predilection to believe nonsense.

I seriously doubt there was ever a real study. The amount collected was likely exaggerated to inflate the image of what was the "truth movement" during the Bush hate years (truther heyday). Shaddock even "cut off" Basile a few years ago for not getting results, what happened with that?

I seriously doubt anyone will claim fraud on this because the effort in small claims court is too great.............

LOL
One is almost surprised to not see any MARQUEE tag on that page!

I giggle at Rick for pushing at the same time Chandler, Legge, Wyndham on one hand, the CitizenInvestigationTeam on the other. Could Rick Shaddock please try to agree with Rick Shaddock on whether or not a large plane hit the Pentagon?

Why is Ziggi hiding? Where is Basile? Where's all the money?

Can a truther please help us out???

60!!!

(Sometimes I love time zones :p)

Haha, you win. Ziggi, Mark Basile, and truthers in general lose.

That's it. We're now FIVE YEARS from the time Mark Basile claimed he had the funds to do these tests. It can't possibly be made clearer to other truthers that "Ziggi Zugam" and Mark Basile are fraudsters who either failed to carry out the tests promised and pocketed the money or who carried out the tests and are hiding the results.

We also passed another milestone last month in that we are now over TEN YEARS since the publication of Harrit's & Jones' flawed paper on thermitic material in the WTC dust. Even putting Ziggi's and Mark Basile's fraud aside, how can truthers honestly believe that paper contained any actual sound conclusion re thermitic material being in the dust when neither its authors nor any other prominent truther has bothered to verify, improve upon, or even simply replicate its flawed findings for TEN YEARS? Actions speak louder than words and the 9/11 "truth" movement leaders are telling all truthers with their actions a simple loud and clear message: they do not believe they can actually substantiate the claims in Harrit's & Jones' flawed paper. If you still believe that paper has any merit, then--congratulations!--you are one of the few rubes left that the 9/11 "truth" movement leaders need to keep funding their nonaction.

Wasn't that paper published in April 2009? I think 8th or 9th of April? This from memory.

Great point.

No one has replicated the Harrit/Jones study AND has come to the same conclusion.
No other serious scientific paper not written by someone who was alsready a Truther has ever cited Harrit et al (2009). The journal that published it - having zero impact at the time, its publisher famous only for spamming academia and accepting junk papers - has been discontinued years ago, after having published far less than 100 papers.

No paper could be more obscure, none less corroborated.

The only serious attempt to study these particles was Dr. James Millette's study, ordered and partly payed for by Chris Mohr and members of this very forum, found that there is no elemental Al in the chips, and thus no thermite whatsoever.

He confirmed, with at least two competent analytical methods, that the Al-bearing particles (the hexagonal plates) were kaolin clay, a fully oxidized mineral that is of no use as pyrotechnic ingredient. This finding, by the way, was called by "sunstealer" just days after the publication of the paper, here in this very forum: Hey, these plates look just like kaolin. This is of course consistent with the data that Harrit et al (2009) provided: The elemental composition as per Figure 7, the elemental map in Figure 10 and the spot XEDS in Figure 11 all showed that Al and Si were in those chips in equal proportions and associated with the hexagonal plates exclusively, as any competent material scientist would predict from the chemical formula of kaolin, an aluminium silicate that contains as much Al as Si.

Along comes Mark Basile, who, in 2010, just a bit over a year after Harrit et al, had the good sense of quantifying the elements in his "lucky" chip #13 - he found under 2% Al, under 3% Fe - and it can be shown that this means there could be at most 5% thermite in this red material, providing at most 5% of thermite's energy density = a whimpy 0.2 kJ/g. For comparison: Paper has 10 to 15 kJ/g, epoxy around 20 kJ/g. That's 100 times the energy density that thermite could theoretically provide to the red material.

And yet this selfsame Mark Basile, seeing the very same chip #13 reacted vigorously when heated with an external energy source, believed this vigorous reaction was caused by thermite. I knew then that he was not the brightest bulb on the christmas tree. But I always thought he was, deep down, a decent, well-meaning man. I even once talked to him on the phone about his proposal for an independent lab test!

So much has changed in my life since then - I found love, and she died, and I got over her death and found new love, and I had to abandon that love, too! I changed careers, moved a couple of times, I learned to play and sing hundreds of songs, I made and lost friends, governments came and went, etc etc etc. The only thing that hasn't changed is that Mark's little study is still a thing firmly set in the undefined future.

I wonder what has become of Ziggi Zugam? He no longer seems to write much for anybody. Is he still alive? Perhaps he got married, has kids, and found out that his former life as a Truther was a very strange episode down some rabbit hole with a steady supply of funny mushrooms?

There is no money in representing the Truth Movement, because there really is no Truth Movement anywhere. For example, in his entire country, only 9 lonesome souls (none of them an architect or engineer) signed the AE911Truth petition. If you drew squares on his country, 100 by 100 miles, then you'd find just over 2 Truthers per square on average. That's how lonesome poor Ziggi is. (All 9 come from the same city though - if you leave that city, there is not a single Truther left in the entire country!)

Good catch. In its search results summary, Google gives the paper a Feb 10, 2009 date, but, looking in the paper, that's actually the date the paper was last revised prior to publication.

According to the journal's website, the paper was actually published online on March 4, 2009 (which, coincidentally, is exactly ten years ago from the date of this post). So I jumped the gun a bit but, as of today, we're now at the ten year anniversary of the paper with zero discernible progress made re replicating, supporting or building upon its purported conclusions. And the same people who posture themselves as standing behind the paper not only want others to believe that they actually think this paper was serious, unambiguous evidence of the greatest unindicted criminal conspiracy in history, but they ask others to keep donating money based on that premise. Again, actions speak far louder than words. Do any of the truther "leaders" actually act as if they had serious, unambiguous evidence of the greatest unindicted criminal conspiracy in history? If you are a truther out there who isn't questioning the TEN YEARS of inaction of people who are asking you to empty your wallet based on this paper, then you are a foolish rube and I feel sorry for you.

61 months of fraud!

(Come on, "Ziggi Zugam" and Mark Basile, you didn't think we'd forget about your fraud just because we're in its fifth year, did you?)

Will no one ridicule a little researcher in New Hampshire?

Mark Basile has now let 62 months slip by without any results.

I inquired the other day with J Michael Talboo, who runs the "Debunking the Debunkers blog", if Mark is still alive, or if the project is dead. He refered me back to this message from almost half a year ago (edited for truth by me):

Mark Basile Update - Study on hold for personal reasons
Posted by Zugam
Chemical engineer Mark Basile has been dealing with some personal issues that have prevented him from completing his red/gray chip study. He is taking a break from his research doing nothing until he has them resolved - Another update will be posted when that happens. I do not have permission to reveal any details.

Personal issues do not, I hope, include dire shortage of cash that might tempt him to borrow a little from the $5000...
