Another School Shooting, time to attack Michael Moore again

I blame it on Men At Work, Toto or whatever crazy rock music the kids are listening to nowadays.
 
If only the other kids could bring guns to school. THey couldve defended themselves.!!!


That part of MN is a depressed hole. I think they wanted to build casinos to bring in some money to the locals. But the other casinos put up a fight.

I blame the liberals. And the religious right. And video games. And the Vatican. And Princess Diana. And the Illuminati. And Satan, who's behind the JREF server.
 
Michael Moore had a fair stab at asking why these tragedies occur, even if his polemics sometimes seemed to prevent many from understanding the sense behind the show. The tragedies are still occurring, and America seems no closer to understanding why.

From what I recall of his documentary, he offered several hypotheses, then offered counter examples to each one, and then decided to harass Charlton Heston for no apparent reason.

He doesn't like Charlton, I think he's right. However, that is the polemic I referred to. The question is, why so many school kids? MM, as far as I could tell, was really just trying to stir the pot and get some conversation going, by pointing out what was different about America, to, say, Canada. He didn't have any answers, but as far as I can see, no-one else has either.

Australia has had a few massacres as well, fortunately no school ones, but from what I can see, it is social isolation that is a factor. This school is in an economically poor area, but Columbine is not.

Then what is your point? And what is wrong with Heston? Moore made an a$$ of himself and didn't resolve anything by that stunt. I wish he would try the same thing on.Clint Eastwood

The truth is that the violence in schools is falling. The odds of getting shot at school are quite low. Odd since Moore argues that dying from a terrorist attack is low. Moore further argues that the media is scaring us with all of the attention on terrorism and then he scares the hell out of parents about school shooting when in reality the odds are statistically insignificant. I wonder why folks don't get that Moore's little movie does exactly what he complains about, offers no solutions and asside from being entertaining it is a big waste of time.

So what is it you want us to do AUP? Are we to feel bad about America? Wring our hands? Appoint a commission? What's your point?
 
How exactly does a single crime on a Native American reservation near the Canadian border make the voices in your head tell you that everything Michael Moore says is gospel? This post is so full of fallacious thinking, anecdotal evidence and unscientific anti-American spin that I don't even know where to begin.

I think he's a jerk, so does Moore. That is purely opinion, so ignore it. The real issue is, why the school massacres. No other nation on earth has the problem to this degree. To just write it off as statistically insignificant is not a response to the issue that I would expect.

I don't think anyone on the planet feels good about these events, it doesn't matter what country you are in. As for the post, someone was surely going to start a thread on this, so I did. Michael Moore asked some serious questions, and the response was to attack him. Why are these tragedies happening?
 
Gun-violence looks like an American thing. It seems to have this strange socially acceptance going for it.

I don't recall saying anything other than pointing out that a serious issue that MM has raised was reduced to an attack on MM. If you think school kids committing mass-murder suicides is nothing worth noting, then you are a very strange person. What it does illustrate is that the phenomenon is not a wealth issue.
