Performance art even after he's dead, what a remarkable person he was.

Personally though, I don't think he's alive. We shall see though.
 
I guess Zmuda is hard up for money to be putting on the old Clifton outfit.
 
Well, the show started at 9:30 my time, as in a few minutes ago. Of course, I think Andy Kaufman is dead. But a small part of me thinks that if anyone would pull this off, it would be him...

Comedian, died in '84 of lung cancer. Known for his 'out there' routines. He like, must've been insanse, or maybe, he, like, took, lots of acid, y'know? :rolleyes:

Michael Stipe can't shut up about him. "Man on the Moon" by REM is a tribute to him. And he wrote an f***ing awful song about him when that movie starring Jim Carrey as, yes, Andy Kaufman -Man on the Moon?- was released.

Now subject to the usual blind hero-worship that some artists enjoy when they die.

He was a comedian, and a strange one at that. Some people thought he was brilliant, while others thought his acts were stupid. It seemed like it was either love/hate. His most well known role was of Latka on the series Taxi. He had told people that if he faked his own death he would return in 20 years. That's tonight. He was in his thirties and died of lung cancer. It was very quick from diagnosis to death because he had an aggressive form of cancer, which leads to more suspicion. Also, the fact that he didn't drink or smoke caused more suspicion that maybe he faked his own death. Edited to add, why should you care? Probably shouldn't

No, I don't hate him. Just his ever-growing legion of drooling fans. Would be quite interested to see some of his routines to see for myself what he was like.

Often mistaken for a comedian, he was a performance/character artist. He did unconventional bits, but what the audience didn't know was that even his "alternative style" was something of a dupe intended to get a rouse and leave them more confused than anything else, sometimes laughing, angry, disgusted, but always very confused.

He was the first troll.


(As a side note- he was also a moon-landing doubter. But given his eccentric ways, I woud bet even that was some sort of joke.)
 
Andy is a sad case. His most infamous bits were orchestrated put-ons. He and Zmuda even got into pro-wrestling in Memphis back when wrestling was a fake sporting event marketed as a real one.

Despite working in misdirection and knowing it well, he still held out hope in miracle spiritual healing and other nonsense. Mind you, I find it hard to judge someone eaten alive with cancer and grasping at straws. Unlike the Jim Carrey movie, the real Andy thought the chicken livers were tumors.
