• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

A quick laser question.

Have you seen that usage anywhere? (That is, something like "2e3", with a lowercase "e", not meaning 2000?) I haven't.
If you look at the post that I quoted, Flatworm said "6.67e-5 W = 66.7 uW". Also, many calculators use EE; for instance, 5EE9=5*10^9.

In FORTRAN, it never does, so naturally in FORTRAN the "e" can also be written in either case.['/quote]So, then, fortran is the same thing as FORTRAN?

Off topic but, while pen-lasers are great fun for puppies and kittens, avoid teasing your goldfish with them. They will be belly up the next morning.

Anecdotal tale: take it for that.

Poor Skippy and Missy.

I don't own a laser... Oh I see. You were talking to the imposter Dave. That's fine. You'll both rue this day.
I guess I should note that while the AK part of my username was originally chosen to reflect my home state, it would be equally accurate to view it as short for Avtomat Kalashnikova. :)

Dave, If you don't mind, I'll run your laser info through a software program I have (may have to PM you for more data though) and see what it comes up with. I haven't used it yet, but it gives Maximum Permissible Exposure(MPE), Safe Eye Exposure Distance (SEED), Optical Density (OD) for protective eyewear, etc. IIRC.

I need a practice case, if you're game.

The specs for the laser are on the manufacturer's web site: www.wickedlasers.com.

There's a local chiropracter here who uses laser therapy for his patients. I've never looked into it. Been curious about it, though.

I had 'tennis elbow' for which I saw a DO. He used laser to help healing. As far as I could tell it was ineffective.
