A Law Of Nature You May Not Be Aware Of

I should be working so instead I decided to click on Patricia Ann Hellinger's 'Quasar Healing' site

Firstly there is the amusing (but, to be fair, pretty honest) disclaimer on the first page:
This website is not intended to diagnose or prescribe.
This website is informational and only you are responsible for how you seek health and well-being.
...It is available with understanding that the author is not engaged in rendering advise to a person or persons that have been impaired, permanently disabled, physically or mentally by a choice of curing a current disease or illness. If you have chosen to use the treatment of medical science it is recommended the you continue that service.
...It is recommended that you gather all the information and resources available to you before you try the self-help technique.
...there may be mistakes, both typographical and in content.
...The Author shall have neither liability nor responsibilty to any loss or damage caused, or alleged to have been caused, directly or indirectly by the information contained on this site.
Pretty exhaustive really.

But if you click on information about the woman herself she is claiming to teach you, amongst many other things, how to:
3. Stimulate and reprogram the pituitary gland to a lifelong process of producing the body’s own natural Growth Hormone which truly and successfully reverses the aging process and mobilizes body fat which promotes permanent weight reduction.

and

8. Heal the organ that is totally responsible for obesity and over weight (once this organ is healed, weight begins to reduce naturally through a quick adjustment).
Also, for those of you 50+ her methods:
1. Promotes new hair growth
3. Mobilizes body fat and stimulates weight reduction
4. Improves the skin appearance
5. Actually reverses the aging process and also slows down the aging activity process
7. Wrinkle disappearance
10. Anti-Aging
12. MAKES YOU HAPPY, HEALTHY, LOOK and FEEL YOUNGER,

On an unrelated note here is a picture of Patricia:

The Witches Voice that Monsieur Adequate mentions has a link to a current news story:

A good white-witch in the dock for, well, being incredibly stupid it appears
Quote from news story:
Explaining the concepts of positive and negative energies and the deity of Athena, a self-professed "good witch" on Wednesday said confessed murderer Glenn Helzer was "very caring."
This is obviously some strange usage of the word 'caring' of which I was previously unaware.

Then:
On Wednesday, McClanahan said Helzer told her to purchase four movie tickets to an evening showing of "X-Men" on July 31, 2000 -- the day the Helzers and Godman initiated their plan -- and then buy four meals from a Denny's restaurant in a failed attempt to craft an alibi.
Obviously not the shapest tools in the box. More like the bluntest. In fact, in terms of sharpness, they appear to be perfect spheres.

And here is an complete overreaction to the story from one of the witches on the Witches' Voice website
Just last night I was telling myself America wouldn't descend to religious persecution, there are too many sensible people to let that happen. Then I read this.
The way I see it, this is magnificent ammunition to all those fundies who believe witchcraft is evil. Of course, they will conveniently overlook the fact the witch wasn't in on the killings, and that the killings were carried out by fellow christian fundies who were trying to pave the way for the "return of Christ". That won't count, just the fact a witch was "involved."
I think once this story spreads all Hel will break loose (I hope I'm wrong) . Expect the worst.

I will pray for you all.

White Raven
Whoa! Easy there White Raven! We're not getting out the flaming torches just yet.
And she live in England anyway so why she thinks a murder case in America will put her in trouble I just don't know.
Slight case of drama queen?

Pretty commonplace in that crowd... it's fun to play the victim, as long as you're not really victimized, you know?
Makes you all special, just like mommy said you were. :D

The killings were part of a kidnapping and extortion plan -- dubbed "Children of Thunder" -- to secure a Utopian paradise on earth and encourage Christ's return, according to testimony.
Slick plan.

Because it makes me happy to see peope who are obviously healthy and happy I am posting Patricia's picture here again.

On an unrelated note, did you know they are remaking Willa Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp?

I was getting sorta depressed at the opening post, but then it became hysterical. Thanks.

This is somewhat off topic (I suspected that might sound funny, and it does indeed) but included below is a site for rating various gurus ready to help us on our enlightened way.

Sarlo's Guru rating service
http://www.globalserve.net/~sarlo/RatingsR.htm

Note: Jesus Christ only gets a rating of "2", compared to Sailor Bob's rating of "3"

Welcome to Sarlo's Guru Rating Service, a compilation of mostly non-mainstream religious leaders whose mission/job description is basically to help us lift ourselves out of the multiple ruts of misery we find ourselves in as we live our lives. Their methods, quality and authenticity vary tremendously, as do the degree to which they encourage worship of their exalted selves and even their conceptions of our misery. What they have in common (mostly) is a kind of free -standingness, at least a semi-independence from traditional established (organised) religious structures and hierarchies, although of course there is nothing to stop them from setting up their own structures and hierarchies.

(and yes, this is my favorite part...)
Their willingness to "take us on" as cases or disciples cannot exactly be described as taking responsibility for us and our spiritual progress, but something like that. Beyond this admittedly inadequate phrase, it is difficult to say in our limited language what their end of the master-disciple deal is.

I couldn't have put it better if I tried.
And yeah, I'm looking forward to Dep as Wille Wonka.

Surely this image must fit in this thread somehow?

Wonder whatever happened to the person that designed the poster?

Why do you skeptics have a problem with cause and effect? :) Surely a physical law of cause and effect, was at the origins of science leading to the concept of a predictable mechanical universe? ….. at least until theories got a bit less predictable with Darwin’s evolution, chaos theory, quantum theories, etc. But it’s still a physical law, every object in the room around you was put there by some previous cause (whether known or not …. predictable or not) ….most often the cause is the wife ;)

7. The Law of Cause and Effect: There are no coincidences, nothing happens by chance. Everything is a cycle. For every effect, there is a cause, and every cause is an effect in something else. ''Every Cause Has Its Effect; Every Effect Has Its Cause; Everything Happens According To The Law; Chance Is A Name For The Law Not Recognized; The Are Many Planes Of Causation, But Nothing Escapes The Law.
I think ‘nothing happens by chance’ is a very misleading wording of the theoretical spiritual law of cause and effect, this implies life is mapped out ‘fate’ .. but that is most probably not what was meant by this belief system originally …..

You have probably heard the age old debate between those who believed something was suppose to happen in their lives (fate) and those who think life is complete freewill …… is life ‘freewill or fate’? ….. this law says it’s both. It simply meant cause = freewill, effect = fate … a very simple law…. so it could have been called the law of freewill and fate instead. The law meant the only freewill we have is how we react to our fate (created by our previous freewill).

…. The law was a means of trying to get people to create positive things. This law was also a deterrent to humans who thought they could lie , steal or commit injustices upon others and as long as they don’t get caught there is no future adverse effects. Similarly most non religious people think if they do good without a reward or without being seen, it is worthless …. But not according to this law (if it exists). If the soul did good it would experience good things in the future (i.e. heaven like) and if it chose not good things it would experience not pleasant things in future.

According to those type of beliefs, upon retuning to other dimensions those who had been good found themselves in good circumstances and those who hadn’t found themselves in less pleasant dimensions…..the purpose of earthly life was to evolve and test the soul, it was far too easy to be good in other (non earth) dimension because the consequences of spiritual/ethical/moral actions seemingly brought very obvious outcomes ….. and also telepathy was supposedly stronger in other non physical dimensions, so cheating was known by others …..upon physical birth, the soul’s memory (telepathy, etc.) was blocked by the physical brain …. And a sort of virtual reality game began where you cannot remember the past because it spoiled the souls struggle to evolve through trial and error.

The spiritual law of cause and effect is fairly compatible with evolution (Ancients had the concept of human spiritual evolution, long before Darwin’s physical evolution) …. . It meant the soul was evolving through trial and error (Christianity abandoned evolution of soul after 325AD and it became a heresy) … so instead of Darwin’s survival of the fittest, it meant the survival of the most pleasant/good …..because creating unpleasant/evil had unpleasant/evil future consequences, therefore ultimately life forms (souls) chose to have pleasant/good future outcomes … and life was the evolution through time from ignorance/chaos creating evil ….. to eventually intelligence/order creating good.

…….. if such a law exists it would suggest aliens (if they ever reach earth) being more advanced would probably be more ethical than humans ….. not abducting people with pointed instruments :D So a believer in cause and effect spiritual law would probably question alien abductions … because intelligence = more likely to be good, evil was more unevolved….

Of course hard sceptics will reject those ancient ideas (I’m open minded to such ideas) …. But I think many sceptics will still accept the law of cause and effect not just as a physical law but perhaps a mental/emotional concept. Much of our mental processes are our subconscious mind (effects) programmed by our conscious mind (cause). Every thought is possibly the evolution of a previous idea, thought or mental conditioning. Our ability to understand now is based upon the quality of our past programming…. That is in essence what the law of cause and effect meant.

(.............. and no, this law has nothing in particular to do with Bin Laden or fundamentalist muslims :D ...... the believers in spiritual cause and effect (a) would not commit crimes that rebound upon themselves later (b) They believe justice works out eventually, no need for wars, they believe only good brings good :) )

Blah, blah... physical law of cause and effect... blah, blah
Look, there's no such thing. Look at some physics books. Not a mention. Better still, search the net. Everyone who uses the term is a nutjob. It is not a scientific law. It does not exist. No scientist has ever heard of it. The people who not only think that it is a scientific concept, but that they know what it is, are using that special blend of ignorance and arrogance that marks out the woowoo. That's why I googled for it.

It is generally called 'causality' the dominant principle of classical physics, it means the same as cause and effect ...... cause preceeds effect.

Everyone? Did you use psychic powers to know that? ;)

Of course they have heard of causality.

I refer you to my above comments

"Cause preceeds effect". Well well, we have a twenty-fifth idea of what this mysterious law is. What a powerful, important principle. I wonder why you don't find it in any physics books. Just after "More is greater than less" and "Large is bigger than small."
Everyone? Did you use psychic powers to know that? ;)
No, I googled, as I said. And they're all nutjobs.

I always thought cause and effect was If you do something(cause) something happens(effect),No matter what it is.

I mean...You walk(cause)...You get somewhere(effect).

You kick a brick wall(cause)..You break your foot(effect).

You prey to god and believe that everything in the universe is mental(cause)....You waste most of your life and get laughed at(effect).

As far as Murphy's law goes....I don't get it..

"Anything that CAN happen WILL happen."?

No....Anything that CAN happen CAN happen. That makes much more sense.
