Do a simple internet search for beef cost inflation over the last several years. It shows nothing that he claims.

Of course he is welcome to prove it with actual evidence but we know he can't.

The truth is a powerful thing. It destroys false narratives such as the one you're desperately trying to push now.

The cost of beef inflation over the years is not a secret. The information is all over the internet.

None of it confirms the fantasy story that you claim.

Do you have any evidence or not? If not you really owe it to the forum to retract your claim

No in fact, I didn't. I made several purchases of $0.99 lb hamburger at Steve's Cee Bee store in Hiseville Kentucky during Trump's Presidency.

As a Trump critic, the one thing I do have to give him credit for is that executive order he signed setting the price of ground beef at Steve’s Cee Bee store in Hiseville Kentucky at $0.99 per pound.

And the same type of beef at the exact same store now cost $4 a pound???

Absolute bull ****.

Let's see what their FB page showed though it is Kentucky wide rather than prices in Hiseville.

Cee Bee Food Store
Scrolling forever down I got to Jan 1st, 2021.
Fresh ground beef on sale on Jan 1st 2021: 73/% lean $2.29/lb.

Feel free to look further back, to find another source, whatever. But as it stands your memory, Chris, is grossly incorrect. Burger was never $.99/pound in TX within Trump's fantasy land.

Steve's Cee Bee is now "Phillips Family Grocery" an IGA distributor. Feel free to check them out online. Currently they're running a sale of the 8lb bulk pack hamburger for $2.99/lb , regularly priced $3.99/lb.
Planning a trip there tomorrow!

4 years ago Hamburger here was $1.79 per pound. Usually once a month or so it would go on sale for $0.99 per pound. Now 2024, yesterday, I paid $5.97 per pound at Walmart grocery because it was the cheapest price in our area.

Inflation has reached a little higher than the 18% we are told to believe. Consumer pricing will be a very important issue in the upcoming election.

It would seem that $5.97 per pound at Walmart is in fact, not the cheapest price in your area.

Yes it was, I found the current sale while looking up their website. It's not in my local area but worth a short drive to stock up the freezer. Normally, Walmart has the best everyday prices of course, but sales do happen from time to time elsewhere and it's worth the drive IMO.

I have never claimed to live in Texas, I'm in Kentucky. My memory on this 0.99/lb hamburger subject is beyond question. You're spreading untrue accusations, and that's a fact.

I believe you. But unfortunately, all you’ve established with your unquestionable memory is that inflation increased the price of hamburger by 130% under Trump.

The problem is you were comparing the pre Covid price of a giant package ground beef of an unknown fat % at a cheaper retailer to the price of a one pound package of 80% at a higher priced retailer years later.

Furthermore, you’ve also informed us that the current sale price for hamburger is $2.99 per pound under Biden, which is only a 30% increase from the peak sale price of $2.29 per pound under Trump.

Thank you for using your unassailable memory and honesty to conclusively prove that Biden is a significantly better custodian of the economy than Trump.

As I had mentioned previously, the regular price was $1.79 and the sale was $0.99/lb, then. Consumer pricing increase was not an issue during Trump's Presidency as it is now under Biden. The reason is inflation.

From a few years of Biden's record setting high inflation rates. The consumer price increases will be a major factor in this election. Hamburger was just an example, one of many that show grocery prices did not only increase by 18%, in fact they doubled and sometimes tripled or more in price for the same products. A 24 pack of Coca-Cola went from $7.50 during Trump to over $12.00 and higher in this area. People have to eat and not many paychecks doubled or tripled in the past 3 years.

Sale prices and regular prices are two very different things. The current "sale" price for hamburger is $2.99/lb. during Trump it was $0.99/lb

Over 200% higher during Biden's watch.

I remember when oil was quite cheap under Trump. All my friends lost their jobs, but XOM borrowed money and paid their dividend on time. Those were good times, what with the fighting over toilet paper and such.

I’m comparing only sale prices because that gives us three conclusive data points:

$0.99 per pound under Trump, per your claim.

$2.29 per pound also under Trump, per the flyer from the Brownsville KY Cee Bee (30 miles from Hiseville) linked by Skeptic Ginger.

$2.99 per pound under Biden, per your claim.

Sale prices and regular prices are two very different things. The current "sale" price for hamburger is $2.99/lb. during Trump it was $0.99/lb

Over 200% higher during Biden's watch.

Again, only comparing sale prices as mentioned above.

Based on the data that you’ve provided, you’ve help establish that a significant amount of the inflation that causes you such concern happened under Trump.

I think we all owe Biden a debt of gratitude for getting that runaway Trumpflation under control.

I don't know that I would want to buy hamburger mince priced at 99 cents per lb. Sounds like it was not actually made from beef. In Texas, it could have been groundhog, not ground beef.

A quick look at some official statistics shows ground beef has NEVER been lower than $4.00/lb and that was 2014 during the Obama presidency. So I think Chris is remembering a "special sale" of some sort if his $0.99/lb was even true.

never thought this thread would turn into a page of arguments about how much more expense made up hamburger prices are now
