i'm not convinced trump buried in felony lawsuits in multiple states with a hodge podge of underqualified lawyers that are in way over their heads can run a functional campaign with the d-listers he has left. i think him and the GOP in general are going to have a lot of funding problems as well

I don't think he really has to do that much. Everyone already knows who he is, and he's doing well in the polls. What kind of "functional campaigning" does he have to do?

well i guess you're right, presidential campaigns pretty much run themselves

... The difference being, Trump voters forgive [are blind to] his gaffes and latch onto Biden's. ...
FTFY

They aren't forgiving Trump's gaffes anymore than they 'forgive' his 3 marriages, grab 'em by the pussy, his being hell-bent on revenge or any other fault Trump has. They are in denial.

He brags about accomplishments he never accomplished, he pretends to love and read the Bible, you name it, the cult followers are in denial. Watch any of Jordan Klepper's Finger's the Pulse to see what these idiots actually believe. It's not about rational 'forgiveness'.

Exactly. His idiot followers are in deep denial.

Biden's only hope is that Trump will be convicted and sent to Federal prison by the time the election comes around.

The Dems would be wise to have Biden nominate a personable and intelligent and likeable successor to run for 2024. There seem to be a bunch of up-and-comers who would give the GOP a good kick up the butt, and Trump a public slapping across the face Will Smith style.

Joe can say he is "now concentrating on his personal businesses and family," and retire into the wings gracefully. Frankly, I think he should, sooner rather than later.

People are so impatient. This is from the AG in NY case against Trump thread:

It's great for Trump's fundraising. And there are a significant number of idiots who believe it's all the deep state, whatever. But when he loses the ability to do business in NY, and even if there are months or years of appeals, I would think his properties there would be in receivership until he wins an appeal. And that drains all the money he has left in legal fees. How long are those people he grifts off of going to keep sending in their money for his legal fees?

Campaign ads can say he showed a magazine as proof he was a billionaire. The ads can show what a fraud he is. And that's not even getting into his retribution statements or how dangerous he is.

All these polls are well before anyone is campaigning against Trump.

And as for Biden, for every little gaffe he makes, there is more than enough footage of Trump's senile gaffes to compare it to.

Interesting that George Conway says Mar a Lardo is owned by a number of The Fat Orange Turd's New York based LLC's. If so, it is likely to fall under the purview of Judge Engeron, and if he rules for disgorgement, FOTUS could lose his pride and joy.

That would be delicious!

He brags about accomplishments he never accomplished...

Yeah, there are quite a few examples of this:

  • he attended law school at Syracuse University on a full academic scholarship
  • he had graduated from Delaware with three undergraduate degrees
  • he used to drive an 18-wheeler
  • he was the first in his family to attend college
  • he traveled to Konar Province in Afghanistan to pin a Silver Star on a Navy captain
  • he was appointed to the Naval Academy in 1965
  • he was invited by Prime Minister Golda Meir to serve as a liaison during Israel’s Six-Day War.
  • he had been named the outstanding student in the political science department as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware
  • he was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania
  • he helped to desegregate restaurants and movie theaters during the civil rights movement
  • he visited Iraq and Afghanistan 30-50 times
  • he traveled 17,000 miles with Xi Jinping
  • he was endorsed by the NAACP

ETA: Whoops, I'm sorry. I thought you were talking about Joe Biden.

Who?

There are a lot of good Democrat Governors out there who could easily and quickly fill in for Biden. I hope the Dems don't realize this too late.

Gavin Newsom?

I'd say it's far more dangerous to put an unscripted Trump in front of cameras as evidenced by his inability to talk about anything other than how the election was stolen from him, he's a victim of witch hunts and the most persecuted person in history...

That's probably why his polling numbers are so terrible.

Oh, wait...

In fact, the more idiotic things he says, the more they like him. I would have expected that to be obvious by now. The things he did on the campaign trail in 2016 were unforgivable, and he won comfortably. Why do you think things are going to change now?

The difference being that even those who should be supporting Biden, since he's going to be the Dem nominee whether you like it or not, are bashing him and calling him senile. Trump voters latch onto that.

Be aware that I have no dog in this fight - I'm able to look at it as a casual observer. You're quite right that people who should be supporting Biden are calling him senile, though. How do you think that's going to play out?

That paint brush you're holding certainly doesn't help anyone but Trump.

That was my point - he's winning and Biden's losing. In a sane world, Trump would be polling in single digits. He's not.

Smart move if you ask me. In a field of nutjobs, she's right at home.

Denial/forgive, whichever you like.

The end result is the same - Biden is struggling to hold support and the orange toad is building towards victory. The polling numbers may well be inaccurate, but there's a trend of Trump increasing his support and Biden losing his. If that trend isn't reversed, Trump will win in a landslide.

It's already too late. Just as they hung their hopes on a certain loser in 2016, they're doing the same again.

What makes you think Trump will debate Biden? He hasn't shown any interest in debating any Republicans this round, my guess is, he won't debate Biden when the time comes either. He knows he has nothing to gain showing the world how outright stupid he is on most any subject that might arise in a debate scenario.

I don't think Biden should debate Trump actually.

It's kind of like how people mock the time President Obama pronounced "corps" as "corpse" over, and over, and over, and over, because it's pretty much the only thing they can think of
...or the time McCain was ripped for being "too old" for the presidency when he ran, because it's pretty much the only thing they could think of. But no such concerns arose with Biden of course.

Two sides of the same idiotic coin. Rational thought has no place in politics and extremists are by definition idiots, regardless of which side they are on.

She actually seems to mostly hold reasonable opinions from what it says in a brief scan of her site. I'm guessing she's a nutjob though?

She's more New Age platitude than practical policy.
But I'd take her over RFKjr.
(in spite of her anti-vax history)

Nobody should debate with Trump. Trump doesn't debate, he doesn't listen, he doesn't take his turn, he doesn't follow the agreed rules, he is just plain bullying rude and he just talks over everyone all the time. The only way he believes how to win is to be the narcissistic turd in the punch-bowl and ruin the debate, not make points or argument.

So everyone on both sides, and all the mainstream TV channels, should just ignore any attempt to engage with him in any debate-like situation, even if their event is utterly contrived and stage-managed for public consumption.

It's never a debate with Trump, it's a chance for him to have snarky interruption fest and get the focus on himself. It would be a loudmouth game of pigeon-chess, with the pigeon taking selfies while he tossed the board.

A loser who beat Trump last time when Trump had all the advantage.
